I created two boards on Pinterest. However I noticed that there are two other boards, which I did not create, with literary thousands of pins.
So:
1. How can others ad boards to my account and can I prevent this.
2. Does this help/hurt my Pinterest account/HubPages account.
Sorry if these questions sound naive, but Internet/computer dealings are not my strong suit.
Somewhere you must have accidentally clicked an invitation to join a group board, you can just bring it up and leave it.
Yes exactly as psycheskinner has mentioned.
I went to your pinterest boards and I can see that two of them are group boards. You can tell they are group boards because on the top right hand side of the boards you can see there is an icon (it's a picture of 3 people). That means those are groups boards, many people are members and anyone who belongs to this group can pin to it. Someone invited you to these groups and you must have accepted.
Hi LuisEGonzalez,
What psycheskinner says is correct. Looks like, it must have been invitation to a group that you accepted.
Click on that board, once you are in it, click "Edit board". It will take you to the next page where there is a "leave" button. Click on that to remove it from showing on your profile and stop receiving any updates or notifications. Please see screenshot attached
Hope this helps!
Thanks to all. One more question: Is being part of these groups beneficial (views etc) to my HubPages account at all ?
I find group boards just clutter up my page. I tried using them, but know would only use one I started myself with a clear purpose.
Luis,
Wrylilt has written a hub about how one can use pictures on hubs with Pinterest and one doesn't need to use Pinterest.
*ie with made for Pinterest pics, one doesn't even need Pinterest membership.
I agree with livingsta and psycheskinner. These group boards can be quite beneficial if they are relevant to what you will pin from HubPages. In that case, they can be huge exposure to a large group of people following that group. However, they can also be clutter if they are something that holds no interest to you or your writing.
Group can also be a source of new followers on pinterest. I pin to my group boards from one of my own boards rather than directly from my HubPages account because pinterest will always give a pop-up when someone pins something that will lead them to the original board. If they really like what they pin they sometimes click through to your board and start following you.

I have been attempting to pin hubs to Pinterest this evening and it kept saying whoops and something about the account. So I went to Pinterest and just looking at it from a glance, all looked okay until I clicked on one of my boards, and apparently someone by the name of "pinner"...

I could be the last person alive in the dark on this but in case I’m not:I just found out you can add hashtags to your pins on Pinterest, so last night I did a little experiment. I pinned all my articles to a Pinterest board and made a little portfolio. Then I hashtagged a few of the pins....

Could the network site boards be turned into shared boards so we can add our pins?
