I thought that when you use the ebay capsule and an item is no longer available that the link automatically updates with another similar product. Yesterday I noticed that sold items are showing and have blue lines through them. This looks terrible on page...what is going on?
eBay has so much churn in the listed items that it can be hard to create a capsule that will always show results. The items returned are based on the search terms you specify, so sometimes the search used will no longer show results. If you have a specific item in mind, sometimes Amazon capsules can be a better choice, but even items on Amazon don't stay available in perpetuity.
Matthew Meyer: I understand all of that, but it is not what I asked. To me, if an item is no longer available, it should simply disappear from the capsule...not remain with big ugly blue lines running through it that detract from the aesthetics of the article. I have been here for more than a year and this is the first time I've ever seen the blue lines. Sooner than have them ruin the looks of my hubs, I'll remove all of them...unless this is a fixable glitch. I tried Amazon and made zilch there. I don't make too much more on Ebay, but I do make a little. What can we do about this problem?
I am not aware of any changes that have been made to the eBay capsule.
Please provide an example Hub URL and/or title with the eBay capsule displaying in the manner you are describing, so I can look at it.
http://timetraveler2.hubpages.com/hub/G … r-Camping. This is just one. I am seeing this on every single hub I've written! I've removed about 4 ebay capsules already and have tried a few Amazon capsules and guess what? THOSE also are getting the blue lines through them. I will put everything on hold for now until you can look into this, but if this is affecting me, it must be affecting others as well. I suggest anybody who looks at this hub check several of theirs and if they see the blue lines, share this info with everybody. If Ebay and Amazon can indicate articles have been sold and are not replacing them, then we must find a way for HP to clean up the mess...otherwise, our articles will look like morons formatted them!
I don't see any blue lines, only products listed. How many ebay capsules are in that Hub? I see two that each have 3 products listed.
I would disable all your browser extensions and see if that has an effect.
I have Chrome. How do I disable the extensions?
Matthew: I found out how to disable the extensions and voila!! All the links I've checked look good. I added a few new extensions yesterday and am sure this is where the problem occurred. Unfortunately, I dumped out the baby with the bathwater...so now have only one extension and can't figure out how to get the others back...boo hoo! Thank you VERY much for your help on this one. What a relief!!
Thanks to your tech skills, Matthew. This one really had me worried.

We just released a small update to the site. Among a slew of bug fixes and small updates, there are two notable changes. The first is that you can follow the comments on a hub, and receive email notifications when new comments are made. Just click the follow button near the top of the...

I have had a hub on this site for several years that only contained TWO eBay capsules. Today, they were "snipped." What is the point of partnering with eBay if HP is going to interfere with that? Now, I understand that too many "spammy elements" as they call...

Authoring Hubs is about sharing and spreading ideas. Most of what we do is word-based, and a capsule to show off related Zazzle stuff would be an eye-catching way to allow readers interested in those ideas to buy products which celebrate them, such as relevant designs, graphics, statements,...

I've had yet another eBay capsule snipped from a piece I published two days ago. This article is on dogwood trees, and the eBay product was about dogwood trees/seeds and planting of this tree species -- which is something directly related to the hub itself. So, now I think it is...

I really don't know what to do...keep using Amazon capsules or change to Ebay due to the easier report in HubPages. Help would be good in this case.

Have you seen the new rules regarding product capsules? It's in the HubPages Weekly. We have to reduce products within each capsule from 2 to 1, as a way to prevent looking spammy by Google. Oh Lord, what a task. I've already started this morning, 14 hubs down, 37 hubs to go. Question to...
