   "ROME -- Pope Francis canonized more than 800 Catholics in Saint Peter’s Square Sunday – the largest number to be elevated to sainthood at once in the history of the Catholic Church.
   
   The choice of some of the new saints was also striking, touching on the already-fragile relationship between Christianity and Islam.
   
   The new saints included hundreds of laymen from the southern Italian port town of Otranto who were slain in the 15th century by the invading Ottoman Turkish army after they refused to convert to Islam.
   
   So why risk creating yet another inter-faith row with a celebration which some in the Muslim world may be seen as a provocation?
   
   The answer is that it wasn’t Pope Francis’ choice in the first place. The decision to canonize the hundreds of Otranto martyrs was rubber-stamped by his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, on Feb. 11 - the same day he announced his resignation."

      Well it doesn't seem to have upset the Muslims too much ATM. They haven't yet stormed St Peter's, burnt the Vatican flag, or stood around chanting "Death to the Pope, death to the Vatican". Perhaps ATM, you are making a little mischief here.

      I'm not a defender of Catholicism usually,  but I am aware of that Church's power.   Far be it from me to dislike them using that power to keep Islam at bay.   
      
      In this Country, the same power was once in the hands of our U.S. leaders,  defending a strong military, protecting our Constitution, respecting God-fearing Americans,  that kept Islam from taking over our Nation.    But guess which Administration has put slack in the reins in order to promote its own personal goals?----yep, the current one.
      So, hey, some entity might as well exercise that power to help protect their Nation, and by default, ours. The  American people can't keep holding onto it until the liberal activists step down or get kicked out.

         How would you propose would you stop Islam 'taking over' your nation? Freedom of speech and religion will allow Islam to propagate by peaceful means. You cannot discriminate on grounds of religion or race. You cannot prevent the Islamic community from having large families. You cannot prevent a Muslim taking public office. Once a community has a 50% Islamic population, a Muslim could easily be elected to local or national government. In time it's quite conceivable that you'll end up with an Islamic president, congress and senate.

   Well, of course the Muslims would be offended. They don't think dying in the name of one's faith is appropriate behavior. How dare anyone offend them by canonizing a martyr. Those crazy Catholics. I suppose, next they'll be publishing offensive pictures of Mohammed.
