My Social Services hub was unpublished and I'm frustrated

Here is the word doc for my social services hub.  I was given an email today that says it has links that are over promotional.  I DON'T HAVE ANY LINKS IN THE HUB.  Geez.  It's one of my more popular hubs.  It has no sex, no violence, no drugs, no porn just the facts that the social services department needs a major overhaul and the government needs to take care of our foster children better.

    Any ideas?

I sincerely apologize for the frustration, Sarra Garrett!

I just checked the Hub and it looks like it has been moderated because it links to a prohibited site.

Here is the warning you will see on your Hub:
      Links to Prohibited Site
This hub contains prohibited promotional links, or links to a site that may be difficult for visitors to navigate, such as:
Sites that contain pop-ups or pop-unders that interfere with site navigation, for example when clicking the back or close buttons, or that redirect users to unwanted websites
Affiliate or promotional links in subject areas containing a high proportion of low quality or promotional content (for example, forex, acai berry, MLM, weight loss, etc)
Links to eBook sales pages and lead capture forms
Links to sites that contain links to any of the above (ie, a blog that links to an ebook sales page, etc)

Should you now know which of your Hub's links meet this description, I would take out all links except those to trusted sites like Wikipedia. I hope that helps!

thanks Simone.  Didn't realize that pics would do that.  I'll also have to take out my child abuse one as I had problems with that earlier as well then it was republished.  Arggggg.

Thank you for posting this forum. I didn't know pictures could cause such problems by linking to places other than the picture. I haven't had such issues myself, but now I know to be watchful of such cases.

I didn't know that pics could cause problems either until now.  Oh well, well we learn something new everyday.  Life is a learning process for sure.

The actual problem is a typo in the wikipedia link in the first image, it goes here, which redirects through a bunch of places and ends up (for me anyway) on jcpenny.com.  One of the affiliate networks that it redirects through has been identified as a prohibited site:

          http://www. enwikipedia.org (intentionally broken)

You probably meant to link to here:

          http://en.wikipedia.org

That's interesting.  It sure shows just how easy it is to get in trouble just navigating around the web.

Seriously, I will definately double check all my photo links from now on.  Glad I don't use links very often

I try to click each link I use after saving a new hub (or newly edited) to verify I have it right.  I've caught a few, even though I nearly always copy/paste the link, that don't do what I intended.

I'm confused. I was under the impression that we were allowed three affiliate links in a hub. Are you saying that affiliate links will get a hub unpublished?

Sarra, a quick look at the cache of your hub shows that you have FOUR links that are not authority sites - the links to the source of your images. ALL links, including image source links are counted.

Are you aware you can't just take images off Google Image Search and use them? All images on the internet are copyright UNLESS stated otherwise. wink

You may want to figure out which image is the offender and replace it or replace them all - you can use sites like Flickr, Pixabay, Morguefile etc for good quality free images - just make sure you only use those which allow you to use them under copyright, and attribute if needed.

It's good that there's a solution though. I have one that is a devotion (Sodalicious). The only thing I can imagine that is wrong with it is that it's not extremely long. Otherwise, it's written just as my other hubs are. Devotions though are not supposed to be very long though. It's hard when they provide a category for your writing, (such as romance etc) and then don't seem to be very supportive of that category. It would be great if there was an automatic pop-up that told you what the problem was that it perceived.

You might want to remove your hub from this thread because it will be flagged as a duplicate.

True. OP probably can't edit it by now, but can use the report button to ask staff to snip it.

Apparently all I have to do is change out my pics.  So that's what I'll do.
