New Xbox Announcement May 21

   Anyone else looking forward to this announcement?  What do you think will be the headlining new features?

      I'm more interested in the Android based consoles that are far cheaper. I can't see the XBOX 720 or the PS4 really having much more firepower than the existing consoles - Microsoft are focusing on the living room to change their console into an entertainment center - yo'll see the cloud will be prevalent, streming media and movies with on demand content will be important and a wider interaction with the rest of the world - the hardware isn't going to be that stellar - similar to a top range PC, but it's stagnant so they'll focus more on the software and the ability to control the house etc. from the console.
      
      If you look at what COmcast are beginning to do, that is the road the consoles will also follow/

         SimeyC, I agree.  Consoles are much more about their entertainment ecosystem than they used to be.

   i'm kinda undecided on the next Xbox. Don't get me wrong, I like the thing as much as the next guy, but I'm actually hoping that the current trend of most games getting released on more than one platform will continue because i'm not sure that i can afford both the PS4 and the new Xbox (whenever they come out). besides....i'm really sick of giving Microsoft $60 of my hard earned money a year for the good version of Xbox Live. It doesn't seem like much, but it always struck me as dumb to charge for it when the other consoles do the exact same thing (just about) for free. Nonetheless, its about time they unveiled it and i'll reserve judgement until i can play it.
   
   So yay for them .

      It would be nice if Microsoft stepped up their Xbox Live Gold membership.  They talk about how the package adds value but what would be nice would be to get some free games or content for being a subscriber.  Or, even better, they could have this set up kind of like how free to play games work.  For every month of being a gold member you get some amount of Microsoft points added to your account.  That way, you could choose the content that interests you instead of having deals of the month.  Even if they made the amount of Microsoft points small like 100 points per month.  It would still take four months to build up enough points to buy a five dollar game.  I cannot imagine that would hurt Microsoft all that much to do that.  Except that they have a huge subscriber base already paying for the service without giving away the points.

         Be nice if they did do what you describe. It be a nice incentive for people to keep the service.  But I don't see that happening anytime soon either.

            Yeah, I don't see it happening that way either.  I have been a little disappointed in the way things have been going lately with the Xbox.

               well the announcement for the Xbox One came and went and....I'm not gonna be getting one. I'm not liking what I'm hearing about it, particularly when it comes to Microsofts attitudes towards used games. I dunno, with this new console, it seems like Microsoft is trying to kick us in the groin.

                  Much as  I expected - console aimed at the living room - not that much more powerful than the current XBOX - close to a top PC I guess - but will be obsolete in a year or two - tablets and smart phones will have more power in a couple of years!
                  
                  I like the idea of overlaying TV and controlling TV etc with the Kinect but that's about all!
