Using a Pseudonym?

   I want to start writing a blog or articles on here, but I would prefer to not use my actual name. However, I am unsure as to how that would affect payment. Thank you for your assistance.

      I have a pseudonym but it doesn't affect the my payments. PayPal is uses your banking account which is under your real name. Use all the pseudonyms you want. It won't hurt your money flow at all.

      For most purposes, what everyone said here is true.
      
      But it is important to note that there are different levels of security around pseudonyms. If no one is actively trying to find out who you really are, or it would be okay if someone did, then everything that is said here is true.
      
      The rest may not apply to the person asking this question.
      
      If a person wants to have secure anonymity, then, as others pointed out, HubPages knows your name (and your PayPal account) anyway. So the HubPages is not a site where one can count on secure anonymity.
      
      So, just to give one example, it might be dangerous for a survivor of stalking who's stalker is still out there looking for her to write on HubPages anonymously, especially if she chose to write about the experience of being stalked. The stalker might break through the anonymity, creating a dangerous situation for the author.
      
      Or if a person would lose his or her job if being discovered to be the author of the material, HubPages is rather risky.
      
      So, we must each address our own need for anonymity, and choose whether an avatar (pseudonym) on HubPages is sufficient, or if we need greater security around our Internet author identity.

         It is not a circumstance that knowledge of my name would put me in any danger or jeopardize any jobs. I do appreciate the information though.

   It won't affect your payment. Payment is through your e-mail address at PayPal and that can be different than your user name on HubPages.

      I agree.  I do not like using my real name online as I feel it opens me to fraud, etc.  I have never had any problem receiving payments from HP...besides, they know my real name, anyhow!

   It is common practice for writers and many different artists to use a different name from their own. For instance, having a long and complicated name is difficult to remember... and as writers, we would like to be remembered especially in the online world.Writers working in different genres even use multiple names to suit the genre. Performers have stage names and I imagine they all get paid or they would be out of business fairly soon!

   I see that your username on Hub Pages is MrsHeavyweight so that's what all your hubs will say in terms of who the author is. People will know you by MrsHeavyweight name. This doesn't affect your payment. When you fill out the payment information you have to provide your PayPal info... and your real name...

   Of course, you also need to ensure the name you use is not one that is associated with your real name elsewhere.
   
   I have seen an ID identical to the one you are using here, on a board game site, which gives your real name and the state in which you live. If that is not you, you have nothing to worry about, obviously.
