I know this was probably asked not too long ago but I can't find the thread. Can I use a photograph of an item on Amazon on a hub?
Luis,
It looks like the Amazon program has some stipulations as to when and how product images can be used.
https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp … icipation/
"3. You will not display or otherwise use any trademark or logo of any third party seller on the Amazon Site in connection with any Special Link unless you have obtained from that seller the specific right to do so."
I guess this applies to images then.
Based on what a client of mine told me recently, she said you can use the images to display a larger image of the product you are advertising. For instance if you are selling a computer from Amazon you can use the enlarged image only if you provide the product link to that image. Otherwise you are in violation.
I think number five is more relevant:
"You will use Content solely in accordance with the terms of the Operating Agreement and within the express scope of the license granted in Section 11 of the Operating Agreement. Without limiting the foregoing, you will (a) use Content solely to send end users and sales to the Amazon Site and will not link any Content to, or in conjunction with any Content direct traffic to, any page of a site other than the Amazon Site (however, parts of your site that are not closely associated with the Content may contain links to sites other than the Amazon Site); and (b) link each use of the Content solely to the related Product detail page or other relevant page of the Amazon Site and not to any other page."
They say "trademark or logo", not "image of ....". If they wanted to prohibit all images, they could easily have done so by adding a couple of words. The fact that they didn't is significant.
The use of a trademark or logo can be used to imply the brand is endorsing the text, that's why it's not allowed. The same does not apply to images.
This came up in the Amazon associate forums and the answer from a moderator was that images can be used. You already have permission to use the image because you're displaying the ad - the size is irrelevant. so an enlarged version is absolutely fine.
Yes you can and it's specifically stated in the TOS. I wrote an answer to this question the other day it's here.
What about using the customer images from Amazon? Can we use them just like we can use the Amazon images if we're promoting an Amazon product?
I'd stay away from those, simply because I'm not sure about the ownership of them. You can always try asking on the Amazon discussion boards if you really want an answer though
Thanks. I've been staying away from those images too because I'm not sure if we can use them. It's too bad because some of the customer images look nice and sometimes the Amazon image of the product is only one single angle of the product while the customer images show other angles.
Yes, many of the customer images are very good.
It might be that once a customer uploads an image to Amazon, the rights to that image (all or in part) transfer to Amazon. If that was the case then they might be usable by us just like the other images, but I don't know if that's actually the case or not.
I would think that using an image of a product you are endorsing would be acceptable and promoted. After all you are making them money for their product.

Is it really mandatory to have original images for getting the coveted Hub of the Day prize or images from other sources would do the task? Would love to hear more from all fellow hubbers

I've checked the learning center and unless I've missed it can't find the information to enlarge the image of an amazon product. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You wouldn't take someone else's writing, so why do so many of you think it's okay to steal photographs?A photo or work of art is a creative endeavour, the same as a piece of writing. Therefore, it usually belongs to someone. HubPages is a commercial site. One where you hope to earn some money,...

I'm wondering if anyone can enlighten me on copyright and attribution issues with respect to products sold on Amazon. If I write a hub that focuses specifically on one or more Amazon products, where do I stand with respect to using the full-size images corresponding to the products I select for the...

Hi MickiIf you've noticed I've not written any hubs recently, I'm on my vacations from University and thought of doing a 30 hubs in 30 days challenge. Rather, I've gone for a 30 Wizzley articles in 30 days - for a good reason: Their amazon Capsules are way better formatted - users feel like...

Hello. I've read the learning center guide on proper image use. I understood the topic well enough but what has me confused is the subject of fair use. From what I understand from reading the guide on image use, fair use lets one use copyrighted images for review-based hubs. Is this...
