   It's official, with no warrant, no demand letters, nothing, the government has been stealing audio, video, photographs, e-mails, documents and connection logs from 9 leading US internet companies... for the last 6 years.

      See, that's not the point.  So many people discount this violation of privacy by saying they have nothing to hide.  I have nothing to hide too, but that doesn't mean I want the government listening to me and watching what I do.  That's creepy.

               Man, this gets old.  No, it is NOT okay for Obama to do it, either.  It's mind-boggling for us who were warning people about it years ago to see the sudden outrage when it's Obama's turn to utilize the policies put in place during the Cheney/Bush era.  Where were you then?

                     Actually, what is happening here is some of you are saying we (we being liberals, I assume) don't care because Obama is doing it and we (those of us who did care when it first happened and still care now)  are saying why didn't you care when Bush did it?  It's hard to maintain outrage for 7 years, you know.
                     
                     Remember, this whole topic came up because people are outraged that it is happening under Obama's watch.  Pointing out that it was instituted under Bush's watch, with many liberals vocally opposing it at the time, is a perfectly rational and reasonable response.
                     
                     I suppose you want us to thank conservatives for finally caring?

                        I get it. You read my post but want to question my integrity.  I don't compromise my integrity to make a point.  It's not worth it; I'm not some fickle person whose views fluctuate from day to day.  I have always been opposed to our government spying on American citizens.  You can see some of my posts on drones and other related topics.  By the way, I liked George Bush, but that doesn't mean that I do/did support all of his policies.  I can't say that I fully support any politician's policies.
                        
                        An Obot is a person who automatically believes anything Obama says.  He/she must defend everything he says, does, or thinks, regardless of whether or not they believe he is right.  Yes, there are people who do this in both parties.  I did not coin the phrase.

                           But, in my defense, I live in the reddest part of a red state and hardly anyone here will admit to voting for George W. Bush when I'm quite certain he won my county by over 80% of the vote.  Can you understand my skepticism?  And now, these same people are outraged over the NSA having access to phone data.

                              For the record, I liked George Bush.  I voted for him, and I'd do it again.  I did not support the Patriot Act, bailouts, the Bush immigration plan, and excessive spending, to name a few policies.  I supported our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  I supported tax cuts.  I supported many of Bush's policies.  I feel he was/is a good man, and I have not abandoned his defense.  I have a hub that openly criticizes Obama and supports Bush.  I, too, despise it when people who supported him then don't do so now.  The difference here is that I didn't support some of his policies then, and I do not support them now.  I guess he was a bit too moderate for my taste.

                                    Our debt was 5.6 trillion when Bush became president.  When he left office, it was 10.7 trillion.  How did you come up with 10 trillion?  By the way, even President Obama doesn't claim that the wars cost 10 trillion.  I guess if you're going to be wrong, you should at least be consistent with your beloved leader, Obama.

      It's not that people don't care. It's that people know that it's beyond their reach to change.
      
      The only way it will change is by either a miraculous 180 from everyone involved or violently disemboweling everyone involved. And the mountains of bodyguards make the latter unlikely.
      
      Also, oh no now the government can see the D&D characters I mailed to my friend so that he could print them out! The horror!
