This is not the first time I mention this topic.  The last time Admin posted was that this competition was put on hold and we would be informed later.  It's been many weeks overdue.  I had asked Simone but no response, also I have written to Admin, no response.

I asked because I have a hub waiting for this competition.  If there is none , it's ok.  Then I can just publish it now.

Any of you have this similar situation?

Without Simone, they are all a bit lost. Paul can't find his SEO stick (with which to beat Google). Mathew Meyer's beard has grown out so far he is sheep dog blind. And Marina is still recovering from the orange icons debacle.

Everyone else is in the Anchor and Hope, wondering what 'hope' is.

Stellar left as well. Jane (plain) has replaced her. Grace (period) is still wielding her magic wand. Template is bisexual. Hope springs eternal.
And Yes, the bean counters for traffic have lost their marbles again, and Earning are on strike for more pay.

        Will Apse,
You are indeed well-informed.  I didn't know we are in such deep trouble, coupled with the Google deluge.  I shall be a bit more patient and "wait and see" until my "stellar" hub turns into gold!
At the moment let me cry my heart out watching with despair the sliding traffic in the air!

I'm almost embarrassed to say that my traffic has been volatile but good, overall, this year.

I imagine the staff will get over losing Simone in a few weeks, and move on (hopefully with the competition, too).

We have no plans to reintroduce the program at this time.

What program? You mean the Stellar Hub contest?  If so, then please announce it to all hubbers. It is only appropriate to follow up with an announcement to that effect.   I am sure I am not alone having hubs frozen for weeks, hoping for the stars to fall.

I've been waiting too Good Guy.  Oh well, at least the wait is over now.  I'll vote for you if you vote for me.

      Hi Sarra Garrett,
Sorry I don't understand.  Is there a separate "contest" on stellar hubs?

I suspect that given the State of the SERPs these days, HP are rethinking the need for 'Stella content'.

Hello......Please, what does SERP stand for?   I do wish that enlightened hubbers would use full words to describe things.......for those of us who have no clue what the acronyms mean.   Not all of us have learned all the many things there are to learn here.  It's is frustrating and counter productive, to try to become a "pro," when the pros don't take some common courtesies into consideration.....If you are speaking to ALL hubbers, translation is often very helpful.

aa liteposted 10 years agoin reply to this

I am very sorry fpherj48.  It is faster to use acronyms, but you are right I shouldn't assume everybody knows what they mean.

SERP stands for search engine results pages.  Basically it is what you see you Google something.  Page 1 will have the 10 results that Google thinks are best.  You can go to other pages, but most people don't.  So to get traffic you need to get your hub on page1, and the top result gets most of the traffic (40% I think).

So..........HubPages tells us to write excellent in depth pages, that Google will rank us better if we produce Stellar hubs.  That is all very good, I'm all for improving the quality.

Except when I google something, the top results on page 1 are often far from stellar.  So I think there is a disconnect between what Google tells us it wants, and what HP tells us to write, and what I see on the search engine page results.  Hopefully this is temporary.........the meme was a bit of a joke.

I just published a stellar hub that cleared yesterday. Google crawled it today  it is indexed already with good position in SERPS. Is that correct terminology for use of SERPS?

    1. Pearldiver profile image66
Pearldiverposted 10 years agoin reply to this

At this stage perhaps the correct terminology in your case for the use of 'SERPS' should be:  Yippeeeee!  smile
But don't forget Search Engine Result Pages actually apply to far more search engines than Google... so check out some of the others also... it's surprising how well some of the lesser known SEs rank us, even when the 'g' has issues with the site!  smile

Thank you for the great response. I cannot believe the quick indexing. Bing has already crawled, so I will check it out. This was my first stellar hub, I believe. I will improve a hub and post it here.

      Hi brakel2,
Just to clarify.  HP has talked about stellar hub, meaning well-presented hub.  My subject here is the "Stellar hub CONTEST" which Hp was supposed to initiate in April, but postponed and "forgotten".

@Good Guy...  Surely you have noticed that such commercial abandonment by certain parties, rarely brings with it a sense of any need to justify the silence filling the world, especially after, a perfectly suited and most appropriate WHY has been directed at them??  roll  lol
I believe in law, silence generally denotes guilt... but I'm also mindful of the power of really good questions!  smile
And.... cheers for caring enough to ask yours here!

          Hi Pearldiver,

"Elegant silence" to "Persistent pestering"!  LOL!

          End of story.

            Yes of course mate...
Although early in life, I was lead to believe that the 'Elegance' factor was always measured by the degrees of 'Honor' and 'Style' within the intention!  lol

    Ooops. Try again ,,,
You'll know how well any hub is performing in the search engines when you click the 'stats' button at the top of your hub. It shows where your traffic comes from including google in different countries, bing, webcrawler, yahoo etc as well as hubpages.
Many of my hubs attract far more traffic from the outside world than within hp. That's how I can determine a successful hub. smile
