Approx 460 people have read one of my hubs yet not one of them have left a comment.  Just wondered if others had a similar result.

    Just curious.....  Thanks

I get very few comments.  Of course, I get very few views, too.  All my hubs combined have only about 700 views.  And, all my hubs combined, I think I have 18 comments, including my own responses.  So that means a grand total of 9 actual comments.  A few with no comments at all.  That's okay, but a little constructive criticism would help -- sometimes I feel like I'm floundering.

I suck at marketing.  I'm still trying to figure it out.

Eileen, I generally don't leave a comment unless I have something particular to say.  "Nice Hub" sounds so feeble!  If I like a Hub, I'll just hit the thumbs up button

I get a lot more 'thumbs up' than I do comments.  I'm glad to hear that's fairly normal and not just me.

I never know how many thumbs up I get because I have only ever had one newsletter, and that's the only place they tell us ... sad

newsletter???? I've never gotten one-- do you have to sign up for it somewhere? Is there info on it somewhere that I should go look at?

You are supposed to get it every Wednesday.

So far HubPages is batting 1 from 6 on mine. I'm glad I got the one, or I would be thinking I had done something wrong.

There is some major problem with the email system that sends them out, and lots just never arrive.

Thanks Jenny--guess that means I  don't have to sign up--just wait and one day it will arrive eh?....or not LOL

What totatly amazes me, a very naive young man,
Is the number of comments with very few thumbs up.
I thought if you have something bad to say swallow your tongue.
    If it's good tell everyone.
Some one told me not to make everything capitals and now I earnestly endeavour not do that.
Good criticism is a needed form of stimuli

The only advice I can give is to hang in there. Traffic seems to naturally pick up after awhile. For comments, maybe a bit of text above the comments box asking for comments. Or maybe ask a specific question about opinions on  the topic?

I was going to ask how we find out how many thumbs ups we receive when I saw a few people mentioned the newsletter.

I used to get the newsletter and now I don't. How odd.

Anyway, newbie here. I always comment and try to find something to say besides "nice hub" when possible. I don't use the thumbs up much, but I might start.

I have never received a newsletter, either. I know it didn't go to bulk because I always check that before deleting anything. Maybe one day I will start getting them.

Now that was clever of you:-) What a good idea...I went and read the latest one then. I just joined hubpage's fan club figuring that way I will get the newsletter when they post it. Problem solved....thanks smile

These look like some archived ones but, hey, for someone like me who has never gotten one, it's nice to see them!
How can we check with HP to be sure we are signed up on them?

oh--right--never thought of that. email them I guess-- the latest one archived is January 17 which is pretty recent, and like you I found it interesting-- Funny, I never noticed before I read Jenny's post that there was a newsletter. I realize its been mentioned in forums before, but for some reason it just didn't register-duh-guess I'm pretty spacey sometimes smile

Actually the latest one, at least as far as I can tell, is over a year old. I think hubpages got too busy to continue to post the newsletters each week.

heres the topic with an explanation from a hubpages employee in another thread: http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/3343

Thanks everyone for your help.  Yes it is nice to see comments I believe, And most people share their opinions as to what we have written so its good.
Re  thumbs up. I do it but forget most of the time after leaving a comment.

I have never received a newsletter either.  Can we please have them. Thanks.
