Have you ever noticed that folks will always make excuses for when their page views are down? Excuses are abundant and mostly blamed on the calendar.

Here are a few that I have seen over and over in various threads:

    Views are down,
    because it is summer.
    because school just let out.
    school has just started.
    summer school is in session.
    it is a holiday weekend.
    it is a weekend,
    it is an extended weekend.
because it is the holiday season.
    because it is winter.
The list goes on and on!

When views spike upwards the list totally changes and usually never includes calendar events:
    Views are up,
because Google or Panda did something,
    because I tweaked my material,
    HP staff performed a miracle,
    because I have 32,000 backlinks.
it involves the position of Mars in relation to Pluto on the eighth day of the sixth week of the 14th month.

Personally I feel it is what one person/being, somewhere, picks in some sort of gambling game that gives us views on a particular day or takes away views on another day.  Sort of like a casino game played by some "huge" being somewhere, lol.

Well, I'm going to blame my low views today on the Full Buck Moon.  The bucks are busy growing new antlers.

We've had plenty of that recently.  I guess this month's full moon has two attributes according to the Farmer's Almanac.
Views are noticeably lower this weekend.  We have to blame it on something. LOL

Summer and weekends do depress net-wide traffic. You have to look across whole weeks and compare back to the same time in previous years -- or look for obviously atypical trends in direction or magnitude

I have some hubs that do better in the summer...... I have never noticed the "seasonal" rises and falls in my stats to really matter.  Of course I have only been through approximately 7 seasons here on HP. smile

It is a net-wide trend as I mentioned. Total net traffic drops for the northern hemisphere summer. Online commerce slows.

Well, summer is definitely a reason for views being down. It was the same last year. And I think that many of us do acknowledge views go up. Tweaking hubs, for example. I know mine go up during certain holidays for my holiday hubs. So there are often reasons (not necessarily excuses) when views go up and down. Just sayin' . .  . .

You are all fools. Cognisant reality precludes all parameters.
