I need to work on my consistency. I tend to get excited about writing and write a bunch of hubs and then not write for several months. So my challenge is to write four quality hubs a month for an entire year.
Anyone else in need of a little push toward consistent writing?
I definitely do. I haven't written a new hub in ages. I have gotten so busy with work and other things that I have not had time to spend some time writing a quality hub. I would like to start again though.
Same here. I wrote 13 hubs and came to stand still. It's been a month since I added the last hub here. I have a couple of ideas in mind to write on but not developing a mood for that. I often intend to do it on weekends but then family and kids overcome all of my plans the thing is lingered on again. Let's see how it goes on coming weekend....
That is exactly what I tried to do in my first 2 years on HubPages. Even 4 pages was a real struggle because I take a long time over each hub, and 4 pages a month took up nearly all my free time. 4 pages became an average - the actual number completed varied between 2 and 6, but I more or less maintained that record with 92 in my first 2 years (early 2011 - end of 2012). Since then, my recent pages have been among my most detailed and lengthy, and I've only managed 8 since the beginning of 2013. I have just published my 100th page last week, and now I'd like to up the pace a bit.
Having said that, I would urge most people to limit their output to 4 or 5 a month. As I understand it, for HubPages to be successful today, quality seems to be all important, and most people (certainly myself included) simply cannot publish 10, 20 or 30 high quality web pages in a month. Quality deteriorates. The important thing is to be able to feel really proud of every hub you publish, regardless of how frequently you publish.
I agree to your suggestion Greensleeves Hubs. If efforts are made to add more than 10 hubs in a month, I believe that would definitely affect quality. I myself have been able to add 14 hubs in the last two months and am finding it quite difficult to spare some time to go for the next one, though the idea is there for the next hub.
This is one challenge I could also do with. I used to manage a couple of Weekly topic inspiration hubs when they had it running to get fresh hubs written, but of late I seem to have trouble coming up with hubs.
Good for you, Joy M. I wish you a productive run. It is very difficult to be consistent when life interrupts and does its own thing. I also need to work on overall consistency with my time management and try to prioritize time to write hubs versus time for other tasks that are just as important.
wow! I really need a good push. I write 1 hub per month. previously, i wrote 1 hub in 2 months. I wish i have that motivation again. I thought of joining the 30 days hub challenge again but my 1st challenge was a let down. I thought that by writing more hubs, i could get more money and more views. Wrong thoughts
That's a really great idea! I like that. I suppose that's what I've been aiming for, a hub a week. But I personally go through ups and downs. Sometimes I can't stand to look at anything that involves writing, and other times I can't keep away from it.
Has any one got any tips at keeping the flow going?
ThompsonPen, for myself, if I'm not in a writing frame of mind, I just need to sit myself down in front of the computer and start writing. I the first paragraph or two are usually worthless but after that I've got writing I can work with.
Alternatively, sometimes just a change of scenery helps. Instead of sitting in front of the computer I head outside with paper and pencil. My creative writing especially tends to be better if I do it outside.
I am on a lot of mailing lists and "like" Facebook pages in my fields of interest. Going to Facebook or my mailbox never fails to spark ideas. Sometimes I focus on collecting information for future hubs.
Would anyone enjoy a challenge that isn't 30 hubs a month? I'm thinking about giving myself one that is to write 500 words a day instead. If you write 30 hubs a month, I don't think they'd be the quality that QAP has in mind or I'd spend all afternoon of my summer months writing.

Well, summer is fast approaching here in sunny Florida, so I've been busy clearing as much area as possible to grow an organic garden. Florida betony, by the way, has an ubiquitous root system! Today I'm feeling a little fatigued, and if any of you have casually checked my Facebook posts, you'll...

I just read the hub challenge that asked us to flag hubs that were poor in quality, etcso, out of curiosity I went to the Hubs section and hit latest and ....holy cwap, batman!!! there is so much junk here. It is clear that many either wrote a hub in their native language and translated it via...

A form of this question came up in a recent thread. I responded that I can and have written more than 10 hubs or articles in one day. I just finished a hub, and it took me 19 minutes to write it. It's 800 words long. Many of the articles I write for publishers are only 500 words long. So, you see,...

Hi Hubbers,I am curious as to how long you would spend from start to finish on any particular hub, do you set yourself an amount of time to spend on it? Would you spend longer than one day on one hub?tlcs is curious!

How is it that a hub on the 'common mistakes new hubbers make' can suddenly become not featured, in spite of the fact it has had 9 views in a day, 24 views in 7 days and 35 views in the last 30 days? I only replied to comments on it both 42 hours ago and 22 hours ago (from two different hubbers)....
