    Complexity.
    Give and take.
    Kept interesting and new.
    Love and this relationship,
    there's always more to do.
Perhaps we'll never get it right,
and although close, it's never clear,
    and yet it's this opacity,
that makes it all so dear.
As we assess in golden years,
what has made our lives worthwhile,
what things recalled from among it all,
still make us want to smile,
Embracing things we know are real,
    dismissing what was fake,
the jewel that rises from the ash
    is love in the opaque.

      Bravo bBerean!
      Assuming you wrote that yourself?
"...the jewel that rises from the ash
      is love in the opaque...."
      Awesomely penned!

Thank you Brenda. Yes, I was just inspired by Ahorseback's muse.

    wink funny mood tonight........

    Love once was clear
    and you were perfect
back in the days we dated

    The years flew by
    and nothing changed
    'til my glasses got updated!

    Your thinning hair
    uh oh double chin!
    are things I would've hated

    Your eyes don't shine
    oh God--nose hairs!
    never noticed those, oh no

    And seriously
    what's IS the deal
with your waistline, where'd it go?

    Your once-clear skin
    is mottled now
Your nose looks like a crow

    Love's opaque
    but my vision's not
    But every now and then

    It's okay my dear
    I saved my old pair
    of glasses, for when....

    I'm up close to you
    Now love's opaque
    you're perfectly you again.

    cool

          Brenda,
Thank you for your interest.  What I have in mind for HubPages, (when I do have time), is a certain progression.  I want the reader to be able to clear the site, construct a foundation, and then build on it.  You may already know, based on some info I have shared in the forums, why it is so slow coming.  In the meantime, however, I have a song I wrote that I think you would like.  I also have a couple things I've published elsewhere, that won't fit into that progression for awhile, but you may find interesting.  Just let me know if you would like me to email any of that to you.

Hey,  you do one too.    Please.    Not sure if you intended it to be poetry,  or just writing opinions about the subject,  but it's not fair for us to do it and not you!  wink   haha.

    Like the northern lights
love hides away in the glowing's of
    star light
    Like a night rain falling
    unseen
    unplanned
    Until
    unplanned
as if it waited until you needed
    it most and lost
And only then to show itself
    like the false dawn itself
    and you awakening in
    a smile
    a knowing
    it's here
    it's here
