What's you dog's favorite food brand?

   I am having a little trouble.
   
   My dog is used to the Alpo brand but I have been unable to get it in the stores so had to switch to Purina. Now she wont eat it unless I add table scraps. Most of my food is spicy so am unable to add scraps on those occasions. I am worried because she is pregnant.
   
   Does anyone have any ideas who to deal with this?

      One thought might be to pour some wet food over the dry food. I know my dog went crazy for this.

      dogs will sometimes stop eating during pregnancy (morning sickness like symptoms) try switching to a puppy formula it is higher in caloric intake you can try the purina pro plan shredded blend it has bits of shredded chicken in it

      i know this is a little bit late, and i sure hope your dog came through with healthy pups...but were you aware that Alpo is produced by Purina? also, Purina is the only pet food i trust out there. here in the states, at least, there has never, to my knowledge, been a recall of foods from Purina. not to mention they have been researching pets nutritional needs for some 100 years now. AND my vet suggested i use it. i have been feeding Purina to my cats and dogs for some ten years now, with great results.

         I realized that Alpo was a Purina brand shortly after posting this...lol. However, I have a found a brand that my dog loves, plus the reviews on the Purina brand aren't so wonderful based on some of the ingredients in their food.

            i am glad you found something your dog liked. i will stick with Purina, because the results speak for themselves. i know a lot of people have an issue with grains in pet food, but in the link i shared with you, Purina explains why they need grains. anyway...have a great day...

               Thanks for your response, really appreciate it. As Psycheskinnner said, all dog foods get some negative reviews because different people have different opinions I guess.

   This is an important phase and mother dog needs to fulfill nutritional needs. As you imagine, inadequate nutrition during this time may have a negative impact on her well being and the health of her pups. I know some breeders feed their dams high-quality puppy food, but I think your best bet is to ask a nutrition specialist. I am not a breeder by profession, but hopefully some hubbers who are experienced breeders will chime in.

   All dog food brands get some bad reviews because what we should feed dogs is an unbelievably contentious issue in certain circles.
