I have now reached about $32 and don't know how to claim payment - I've looked everywhere without finding the instructions. Help!

They only pay out at $50 and above if you are talking about the HP ads program.

Thanks, I had forgotten that, although it was lurking at the back of my mind

And at that point payment is automatic. You don't need to request it.

It depends who you are signed up with. HubPages, AdSense, eBay, Amazon or more than one. I have attached an FAQ link below which should answer your question. Simply scan down the page until you find which method you are with.
Here is the link, click on it to go to HP FAQ page:

P.S. - (You can also find out other information on this page.)

Thanks, very helpful advice.  I have looked through it, and although it is clear about how earnings are accrued, and that you have to have a Paypal account (which I have), it doesn't actually state how the first payment is made - do I have to claim it from HubPages, or will it be paid automatically into my account without me lifting a finger?

It goes automatically into your account. You can keep checking on the earnings page which you can check from at "My Account".

Just remember, when you reach the limit you will not get it immediately. It will come the following month.

Can you tell me where the "ad level setting" is on a Hub?

If you are talking about what I think, you do not choose the "ad level setting". It is chosen for you. It depends on what ad system you have selected (HP, Amazon, etc.) once you reach that level then you get paid.

Here is the specific FAQ entry for reference.

If you are referring to your HubPages Ad Program earnings you cannot get paid until you reach $50, which is the minimum you need to earn before you can get paid. Once you reach that $50 or more the payment will automatically be processed and you will receive the funds to your PayPal account. Of course you have to specify your PayPal email in your HubPages account settings...

You get paid on the scheduled payment day one month after reaching the minimum.  You make it sound like it's instantaneous and it's not.

You do not set any payment amounts yourself, they are preset for you. You are told what you have to reach in order to be paid. After you reach these amounts then you get paid automatically in your PayPal account (unless you have AdSense).

Diana, my understanding is that HP doesn't pay out until you've reached $50. Then I believe it's automatic, provided you have set up your bank account with the association link for PayPal under Earnings. (I could be wrong about the automatic part.)

Silva, you can turn off Google ads while in edit mode. To the right of your text there are Display Options. You have to click on that to open up the Ads (choose ON or OFF), Hub Group (you have to create categories to organize your hubs), and Copyright (you can choose whether you want the copyright symbol and your name to appear at the bottom of your hub).--Hope I've helped!

You are not wrong Marie. You open an account with PayPal and then you start an account with HP ads. When you reach the $50.00 it automatically goes into the PayPal account a month after the goal is reached.
