There used to be a great hub explaining how to add someone else's widget to our blogs. I already have a few out there but I can no longer find the information or access the widget for other hubbers.
    See discussion on Q & A here: http://huntgoddess.hubpages.com/questio … swer181582
Sometimes I find a new release on the hubbers I follow by going to my blog and checking their widgets.
Can anyone help here? I've checked the Learning Center and don't see anything there.

Just a question - why would you want to use another writer's widget?

        Hello Marisa,
On my blog I support several hubbers who follow me by displaying their widgets. At present I have 3 or 4 visits there a week, so it is not exactly a money making effort. I also feature a fund raiser for a former coworker who was paralyzed and is trying to raise funds for a new handicapped access van. It's just a highly neglected blog where I post personal stuff.
        Thank you for asking.

Widgets can do more harm than good these days, which is perhaps why HubPages has hidden them.   If used in sidebars, they can create hundreds of links which Google may view as spam links.

If you want to support fellow Hubbers, it would be far more helpful to refer (and link) to one of their Hubs occasionally within the text of one of your posts.

            Marisa,
That is good information to know. I appreciate your insight into these SEO nuances as I'm totally clueless. I'll scrap the widget idea and go with the individual links going forward.
            Again,
Thank you. I have a lot of respect for your knowledge.

I didn't think about this, but you are probably right.  I never use them, so I don't think about how they could very well be viewed as unnatural links as they are not editorially placed by the writer.   Good advice to use natural links with relevant content.

I don't remember if there used to be an icon for getting a widget, but there is an entry in the LC under notifications and following.  I tried it on my own profile and it went to a page that allowed me to copy and paste the url of my widget.  Enter your (or any hubber) profile url address and add '/getwidget' and it will take you to the page.

      Hi RebekahELLE,
I had no trouble with my own widget and several others in the past.
Right now I've tried to use the page you referred me to and the html will not allow me to change the desired hubber's name. Each time I try to enter a new hubber's name in the html it highlights the entire block and won't let me make changes. I tried copying and pasting to a word doc, then changing the hubber's name and it still plugged in the example (Robin's widget).
Something has changed because I've done this in the past.
I must be doing something wrong.

        Go to this url

        http://HUBBERNAME.hubpages.com/getwidget

and replace "HUBBERNAME" with the name of the user you want.  It will take you to the page with the code for that user's embeddable widget.

          Hi Calculus-geo,
Thank you, thank you. This is exactly what I was looking to find. Just couldn't remember how to get there.

I believe something has changed, but the way I did it was by entering the profile url directly into the address bar and adding /getwidget.  It will take you to a hubbers widget page.

Example: enter - huntgoddess.hubpages.com/getwidget into address bar and it takes you to her widget page.  Hope this helps.
