Atheism is a psychological construct of those who doubt nature; not a reality
Atheism: A lack of belief in a god that cannot be shown to exist.
Sounds more like reality than anything else to me! One might call it a lack of imagination or even a strong desire for truth, but it doesn't make it unreal.
Reality exists irrespective of whether man exists or not.
Very good! And it exists, as is, no matter what man may or may not believe. All the imaginings of man added together will not produce even one small god out there somewhere in the real world. Only within the minds of those wishing it to the point of accepting imagination as truth.
How is atheism a psychological construct of those who doubt nature? What nature? Please elaborate.
Or
Theism is a psychological construct of those who fear the unknown; not a reality.
Statements like these are easy to make.
All doubts of the Atheists Agnostics cannot cause a thing to exist or to non-exist.
True. And neither can the desires, wants or imaginings of the theists.
Things either exist or do not, irregardless of what man thinks. Your point?
Likewise, all the beliefs of all the children in the world can't make Santa actually exist.
Seriously, everything you say work in reverse, and probably more effectively in reverse than in the way you are stating it.
Hey, now! I just helped my grand daughter write a letter to Santa (on facebook, so all can see it ). I certainly hope there is a Santa because I sure can't provide her pet unicorn myself!
Actually, Wilderness, I think you are exactly where you need to be with that request. I know Julie, Rory and Ed have all mentioned having dragons. If memory serves, there has also been talk of unicorns, (with leprechaun jockeys no less). Someone here should at least be able to give you a lead on getting one.
Well, if Santa isn't going to provide, I sure hope so. And, now that you mention it, the grandson requested a dragon, so I really do need help.
I actually purchased both a unicorn (pink) and a dragon for Christmas this year. Honestly. They are fluffy (the adjective, not the name) and talk. They go into little plush castles that also talk.
that's ridiculous. Castles don't talk. Don't be silly. Surely you jest.
These castles talk... well they snore actually. It's all very plush and soft and sleepiness. Any toy designed to facilitate sleep, I'm all for. Really, shut up and take my money, kinda all for.
I know, right? The coolness is blinding. The dragon actually goes to sleep in the castle. That one's for the Tater.
This one's for the Bug.
OK. Off-topic TMI finished. But if wilderness did have grandkids ask for a unicorn and a dragon... there ya go.
OMG, this pink unicorn would be absolutely perfect for that little girl. Where is it and what is it called? And yes, we really did write the letter.

It is a "Happy Nappers Unicorn" It is on sale at amazon for ten bucks.
I gave Bug's a lookover when we got it. It actually seems fairly well-made.
Edit: Wow, she is ridiculously cute!
Purchased. Thanks, Melissa - I found an Amazon link on some hub about Alphabet Preschool Plans that took me where I needed to be...
Didn't realize the castle was with it for the same cost - an added bonus. She will love this!
Lol, I'm sure the author is grateful.
It really is quite cute, I'm sure she will love it. I'm gonna go ahead an remove the link now. Merry..er..happy...err..Season's Greetings
If you refer to the soon-to-be-recipient of a unicorn, yes she is about as cute as they come. And somehow knows just how to buffalo her Grandpa into whatever she wants!
I can testify to total awesomeness here! My daughter received this cuddly pink Happy Napper last year for Christmas and it was a hit! They are adorable, hold up well, and make wonderful travel companions
Ummm.. Rory has said no such thing. Rad Man has.
Well, if it isn't your dragon, it is Julie's dragon, Fluffy, which you harbor in your garage sometimes...right?
Speaking of which, has anyone seen...er....noticed fluffy? She's been missing for awhile, and it's getting colder out and I'm going to Maine in January. I could use the heat.
Fluffy makes her rounds I'm told. I don't have a garage so I can't harbor her.
not even an invisible garage? Where on earth is she able to play with your son?
So Fluffy does not stay with you? Did she just come by that one time to give your son a ride?
I think so. All I saw was my son sitting on thin air and flying in a weird pattern so I had to assume that my son is a superhero or I'm extremely drunk (but I don't drink). That was until I smelled the sulphur. Then I put two and two together
I now have the full visual. Invisible dragons make it difficult to tell from whence the sulfuric aroma emanates...let's call it bad breath.
ROFLMAO...
OK then, since I'm heading off to dreamland I get to say something I've always wanted to say...
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night.
Please not the topic which is "Atheism is a psychological construct of doubt ; not a reality".
Thanks
Have you got something against pink unicorns? Or the castle they live in?
Ok, "atheism is a psychological construct of doubt ; not a reality". I'll agree with that.
But, by the same token, "Theism is a psychological ideation ; not a reality".
What is real cannot be threatened. What is false, therefore, does not exist, except in the minds of the deluded.
Belief in One-True-God Allah Yahweh is very natural and is a reality; yet those who very unnaturally doubt it they are in no compulsion to believe it.
As only a quite small percentage of people throughout the history of mankind have expressed a belief in Allah (and even fewer actually had such a belief), it doesn't seem very "natural", does it?
Natural is that what exists irrespective of humans believing or not believing and their numbers.
Ah. Then both Allah and God are very unnatural as neither actually exists.
Why did you say the one was natural?
And why would you say that "Belief in One-True-God Allah Yahweh is very natural" if "natural" is irrespective of belief?
Not quite, believing in gods is very natural as you say, but doubting is also very natural and so is having or not a compulsion to believe or not believe, they are all equally natural.
Just as it is natural to want others to share and accept your beliefs.
You mean the minds of Atheists are free from being deluded?
no. Not all atheists are skeptics. Some atheists believe ridiculous things with no good reason. In other words, they have faith.
So the Theists and the Atheists both are faith based.
No. .. just atheists that believe something without a good reason and without evidence. That's what faith is. Not all atheists are identical, just like not all theists are identical. Skepticism and atheism are not the same. I wish they were.
They could be described that way based on descriptions and definitions that include the word faith. Theism is based entirely on a faith in gods and their existence while atheism is a complete lack of that faith.
No, they are free from having faith in gods.
Free from "religious" delusion, I should clarify that.
While keeping the Atheist delusion intact in them?!

What do we indicate to - when we use the word - real? Are imaginations real? Well - when we imagine - we are obviously doing/using something (materialists = electricity of the nervous system/ others = spirit). So - though the contents of a fantastic imagination might not be necessarily true...

Just a question, but it would seem if there really were no God, then Atheists couldn't exist. Is Atheism a religion? They definitely seem to be unified by a common belief.

If your answer is yes, what is your proof. And then which religion is the true religion and which one is false and why do you think so?

I did look around to see if anyone else had this problem, but I'm not seeing it anywhere. For about a couple of months now, when I log into my site, instead of it taking me directly to my profile or home page, it says "sorry, this user does not exist". What's with that? ...

I wrote a hub on how faith is not required in order to be an atheist. Someone requested that I turn it into a forum thread as well. My position is that atheism, by definition, is the lack of a belief in a god. Therefore, faith is not required. The common dismissive quote is...

The common thread that weaves through Atheism,Objectivism and Reductionism is the belief that reality can and must only be rationalized purely on the basis of its material or physical form.Atheism posits that anything that is not sensed in any physical way (seen, smelled, tasted, heard and touched)...
