Promoting Older Hubs.

   I am just wondering how others recommend promoting your older hubs and attracting your newer followers to them. I have been revisiting my older hubs and refurbishing them, adding videos extra capsules and the like to try and get their scores up, but that doesn't help unless people read them.  You aren't supposed to promote them on other hubs. Do you just keep putting them in your six featured hubs on your profile from time to time? Any ideas?

      Hi Jodah. One way I get my older hubs looked at is by tweeting them from my account tab on HubPages. I have learned that tweeting my hubs on a regular basis makes me money faster and gets people to my hubs, especially the older ones. Hope that helps.

      After updating / re-vamping older hubs, I put the link on facebook, twitter,  stumbleupon and my blog. Then I write a note in the comment section under the hub, such as "This hub reviewed and updated by author. I added more images and a video. Hope you enjoy it."

      I believe it is OK to put a link to them on like hubs you have...I think they just need to be related as same type or subject, etc and I know you do have some like that and it would be good to link them. Unless I am mistaken and I don't see why not.

   If I update a Hub I will leave a new comment in it, saying "updated with..." so that it pops back up in everyone's  feed.
   Occasionally if I have nothing else to post about on Facebook, I will post a link to a random oldie, I will also do it on the "anniversary" date of a Hub's publication (i.e. "One Year Ago on My Hubpage...!"

   John, I have been going back to older hubs and upgrading based on what I have learned since I published the older ones.  One thing I notice is that when I click to edit, quite often there is a message in the upper right hand corner.  It mentions suggestions to help make the hub better.  When I follow those instructions, quite often there is a dramatic change in my hub score.
   
   Also, I found that in older hubs I was putting far too much in the summary.  I was exceeding the number of characters HP suggests.  Again, when I have fixed this, my score moves up. 
   
   Sub titles for each capsule helps also.  I have also noticed that if the lead photograph is not  a sharp, color photo, it holds my score down.  In the last few days I've brought several of my older hubs up pretty high and I've been getting more visits.

   Thank you all for your advice. There are some good suggestions there, and they are a big help.
   I don't have a twitter account though Minnetonka so I can't tweet unfortunately.

   The main source of traffic for most of us here is from Google, which is based on what people search for using the search engine. With mainly works of fiction with titles that are not going to be anything that anyone will type into google you are not going to get traffic from that route.
   
   So social media really is your only hope for gaining traffic... So i suggest finding out how to really leverage sites like Pinterest and facebook is what you need.

   I tie related hubs together by adding a link capsule at the end with a subtitle such as "More on this subject" - and this brings new traffic to older hubs that enhance the subject of a  newer hub.

   Maybe the old-fashioned 'link in an email' to friends and associates will get some traffic going. I also think the carousel is a great way to reintroduce an old hub that needs a boost. Twitter is a good one as others have emphasized, especially when someone retweets you to their followers. I didn't use Twitter until I joined HP. Same with my facebook page. It's all been worth it. Oh yeah, joined Pinterest, too, because of HP. That's working out well, too.
   Edit: Well, relatively speaking. But social media is good for exposure.
