   Why are pro-lifers so much against abortion?   A woman has the unmitigated right to control her reproductive destiny and to have reproductive freedom.   Many women have abortions because they feel that they are not ready to be a parent at that moment.   They are further thinking about how this pregnancy will affect their lives and they feel that this pregnancy will be extremely deleterious to say the least.
   
   At least, these women are intelligent enough not to continue the pregnancy and bring an unwanted child in the world.  Children are a major responsibility and no one should ever have a child before she is ready emotionally, mentally, psychologically, and especially, financially.   Do you agree with this premise?

      Now, now, GM.  Your very premise, that women have an unlimited right to murder children inside their womb, is false from the get go.  And if you don't believe that, consider that Kermit Gosnell got a life sentence for performing such abortions (and deserved every second of it); if the doctor can't do it, what makes you think it's OK for Mom to get such an abortion?
      
      In addition, like everything else in this world, all of us only have the right to do what we can afford to do.  And that very definitely includes the minor cost of contraception; no one else needs pay for a drug to disrupt the natural functioning of a female body, just for a little risk-free recreation.  So a woman has the right to control her reproduction cycle ONLY if she can afford to do so; she does NOT have the right to require anyone else to pay that cost for her (except her partner, of course).
      
      Children are a major responsibility, yes, and no one should provide a single gamete to one of the opposite sex until ready to raise their children.  But nowhere in that statement will you find agreement that the murder of a healthy 8 month fetus is acceptable.  Whether wanted or not, it is NOT acceptable.
      
      So I don't think the question is so much "Why are pro-lifers so much against abortion?" as it is why people that know exactly why the radical right is so strongly against it pretend they don't know.  We all do - it stems from the opinion that human life begins at conception coupled with an extremely strong belief that they have the right to force that opinion on the rest of the world.
      
      That you, I and half the nation accept neither assertion is irrelevant and will not change their belief or their struggle.  Which you also know, just as you know that such threads as this will only cement the opinion in even stronger.

      "Intelligent Enough" LOL, stop, I'm laughing to hard. They are soooo intelligent so is the genius they hopped into the sack with. What's it to much to figure out that a condom would prevent pregnancy. I know, ohh but they were not planning on an abortion till the relationship fell apart. Ya right, the ten minute relationship which is where 90% of abortions come from. I know we are now supposed to "celebrate" the single mother.
      Look, a simple condom would prevent the whole mess. But if they aren't going to use a condom then I for one am all for these abortions because if the kid was born to these geniuses it would most likely be another generational welfare kid and most likely ending up like the kid in the Elvis song "In The Ghetto."  The cost of the abortion is less to the country than the lifetime of welfare payments. I think the conservatives should take on a new slogan; Stamp out Liberalism; Support Abortion.

   I'm pro-life, and I bet 100% of the people reading this are pro-life.... otherwise, they are sick people.  Anti-abortion is a better term.  Pro-life implies that if you are pro-abortion, you are anti-life, which is wrong.
   
   I know it may seem like splitting hairs, but I would not be considered "pro-life" by the anti-abortion crowd, even though I honestly don't believe in abortion except in very extreme cases, but I absolutely do not believe that the government should have any say in abortions.  This is the crux of the disagreement, not abortion or when life begins.  It is the idea that the government has to rule on it.  That's where I part ways with the anti-abortionists.  Science has already ruled on the whole "When is a fetus a human."  If you are not willing to entertain that theirs is the correct answer, then everything else is a philosophical and personally moral argument, and last I heard, the government wasn't in the business of passing judgement on philosophical arguments.
   
   The short version of my answer is: There is NEVER only two sides to an argument, and usually when you have two sides exactly opposite each other.... they are probably BOTH wrong.
