You need to call the unemployment office. What else is there to do.?
Stay busy...it's easy to get into a slump if you don't. Get a profile started on Monster and LinkedIn to generate some connections. File for unemployment and/or welfare to keep benefits of some sort (especially if there's kids).
If money isn't the real concern for you, get involved. Volunteer for something. Take on a hobby. Enjoy some time to yourself and think about the next step carefully. Not everyone would have that luxury but some do.
Best of luck!
Great reply Cre8er, It is true when you don't have job you may easily feel disappointed. But stay positive and keep hunting.
Look for other income opportunities. Some people, for instance, search for rare books at used book stores and sell them on eBay and Amazon. Or they find clothes that are in good condition that people have thrown away and sell them on eBay, etc. Those are some of the options.
Thanks for your answer. You are contributing to person who might need your idea. God bless you.
One thing you could do when you lose your job, is see it as a hidden blessing....You could always look for another job, or you could finally sit down, & think about what you really want to do/be in life....OR at least think about what job you would actually "look forwards" to doing, on a cold wet miserable Monday morning!lol....But one thing you "should" do is get fit (if your not already fit), there's no excuse and you have the time.....So losing your job is a negative, but can be used for positive meaningful change in your life, and it's direction.....So sit down & make a plan of what you want, & where you want to be in 6 months time....Don't do anything (depending on finances obviously) until you "know" for "sure", that's it's what you want to "really" do.....If you do the 30 day test by Earl Nightingale (utube), and stick to it you "WILL" get everything on your list.....Think about it like this: The Universe has a plan for you, and it wasn't the job you was doing!.....It is now "forcing" you and "giving" you the chance to make yourself happy, so you "HAVE" to sit down & think what it is it's trying to tell you.....It's all out there for you already, "ALL" you have to do is write a list of what it is you really want....It sounds easy but it isn't, and the 30 day test might take you a year to complete.....Not many even try the 30 day test, but the one's who finish it ALWAYS get what's on their list.....OR you could take another unsatisfying, and soul destroying job!lol :-)
It is definitely important to stay busy. Even if you are no longer working, it is a good idea to keep up with certain habits that you made whilst you were working. Keep getting up at the same time in the morning, and showering, eating breakfast, ect. as you did before. Don't stay in your PJ's, either. Dress as you would for work. Not only will it keep you in shape for when you get another job, but it will help motivate your search by getting you into a "working" frame of mind. Treat job hunting like a job. Set goals for yourself. When I was unemployed, my daily goal was to send out three resumes.
Again, keep busy, and be productive. Clean house. Write hubs. I actually first got into Hubpages whilst looking for a job in a new city.
Don't be afraid to ask for help, either.

Is it possible to never work a real job and lead a positive life?My husband and I are opposites. He is the work 5 days a week to pay for a house and car type while I am the free spirit who likes to just pick up and go, see new places, never be tied down type. He says it isn't possible for adults to...
