I know everyone, including me, says "don't focus too much on scoring" but....

    AAAHHHHHAAAHHHHRRRAAHHHHRRAAARRGGGHHHH!!!

I am completely frustrated with the HP scoring. I work more, my score drops. I work less, my score climbs. I update Hub information and I'm docked points. I don't touch it and it goes to 100!!

    AHHAHAHHHHHRRRGGHHHHAAAHHHEEEEHAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Okay. I think I feel a little better now. Or at least until I hit "submit" and see my score drop again!

I agree - the scores should remain the same (at the very least), and only be adjusted for quality issues.  HP is trying to get everyone to write more hubs, but has a counter-productive penalty in place if we produce more material.

I still say the 'Hubber' score should not be visible to the public. It's fine if they want an internal score that indicates whether someone's work is featured or if links are folliowed, but that can be between the writer and HP.

It is a shoot first, ask questions later type method. I've had my Hubber score docked 3 points within 5 minutes of publishing a Hub that scored 91 and was given EC...where is the logic?

Perhaps this approach is good for newer Hubbers who don't have much history or material to base upon but for a long time Hubber who has plenty of established presence...unless they do something against the rules or start failing QAP, they should be entitled to keep their Hubber scores.

I have been here over 2 years, never failed a QAP, more than half of my published Hubs are EC with 3 HOTD's, 335,000 plus views and various other accolades.....have I not earned the benefit of the doubt?

Go ahead, score the Hub itself appropriately but don't punish me as a Hubber immediately just for trying.

As soon as you add something the score drops because the score is divided by more work. (That is when you work more.)
After the new Hub is reviewed then the score goes up if the new Hub is considered very good. (That is when you work less, waiting for the review.)

In all walks of life, you know how you are doing  In school, you have grades. At work you have evaluations. Our scores here are based on multiple factors. I know staff wants us to work smarter in all areas. The frustration over scores shows we don't know how we are doing. I too wish the scores could be private. People would be much happier, and we would work smarter. We promise we will.

      Yes but....

The teacher asks you to take a test....you do...and upon handing it in she penalizes your overall grade by 3 points before even grading it. Then she grades it, you score an A and even win a teacher's choice award for it and she then returns 1 of the points she took away.

      What's wrong with that picture?

I don't understand why people continue to be confused by their author score. It's quite simple really. Here's the algorithm flowchart. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/r0CyQcCTgaHFgNCbh14A1ud6qlaG54WrhO5oyc5qiQpMiqEQHEw7mOlJyzFfGyxxOJVH4q_lqX8xh44Gge6g9rAk4Mzo05dNy7hq_t28YagE5-vAxQQkStNnJw

Yes but here you will see the flaw in that method.

You are right. The standard deviation is indeed one off. I have contacted HP.
