    For me it's ...
    The smell of new-mown grass.
The sound of bees gathering pollen.

For sure, the grass... and fireflies at night.

Songs by the Beach Boys.......and lots of city-slickers driving out to the cottages on Lake Erie, which is my neighborhood!   smile

The sun shining, people smiling not so grumpy including myself, birds twittering and flying about, more people about on the streets, lots of summer wear in the shops and many more. I love summer.

Whenever my cricket bat handle melts, I know it's summer. I love Australia.

@liesl - I agree, summer improves my mood too!

@Damien - the only thing that melts here in UK, is the ice cream!

@Beth - Fireflies must be magical, I've never seen one.

        In the UK.

I've just googled 'fireflies in UK' and found that we call them glow-worms here. Still never seen one though! hmm

Apparently they are only found in small pockets in the southern part of England and their light is not as bright as the ones in US.

I live in the south, and in the summer, you can look across a field or even just the lawn and see tons of them. It's a magical sight.

I am serious. It is rain, t-storms, severe t-storms, tornado watches and a few warnings - plus some sun - through summer.

I heard the ice cream truck yesterday for the first time this year. That's definitely a sign of summer.

The smell of the ocean, Cape Cod, and when the Farmer's Market opens on Sunday mornings....

The sight of my first butterfly is something which lifts my spirits for only then can I start to anticipate the arrival of the dragonflies too.

Anything that smells like coconut or shea butter.

    Butterflies and bees.

    The sound of flip flops.

    Bonfires.

Leaving for an outdoor outing in the day lights wearing shorts, but taking jeans and a hoodie because you know you'll be staying after dark.

    Open windows.

    smile

The smell of sun tan lotion. Lemonade. Iced Tea. Barbequing. Fireflies (lightening bugs where I'm from). Making s'mores by a campfire smile

Being lost on road trips, the smell of evaporated sidewalk urine, and the sounds of the beach.

Suncreen, bees, ice cream cones, beach pails & shovels, the sound of crashing ocean waves, iced tea, tomato plants and strawberries.

    I love the summer!

The sounds of lawn mowers coming though the window in the morning, and children playing outside. Also the ice cream van in the distance. Ahh summer days used to be lovely.

A nice, warm breeze, birds tweeting, flowers, roses, manicured lawns and music playing.
