      Thanks for the heads up.

I reported my copied Hub to Google under Blogger category - they always remove these within 48 hours when I file the formal complaint. I lost many page views to the thief this time.

You're welcome Patty. There is another Forum, bur not sure if some other hubbers would have ventured there. Can you share this on your feed please?

I just went to the site and just about ALL of the travel ones have been stolen.  I found a few and left a post with some hubbers directly but it's rampant.  How do you go about shutting down a whole site for content theft?

Hi Steven, it wasn't my hub which triggered this. Another hubber complained about their hub being unpublished by HP for being duplicate when in fact it was stolen so I checked the site and found all this. I did not find any of mine there.....yet.

      Cardisa;

Thanks so much for that community spirited advice. I don't think any of my hubs have been copied, but I did look at two of the Travel Cloud pages and the corresponding Hub pages mentioned, and they are identical. I saw on Patty Inglish's copied hub about the railroads in Ohio, that she's posted a comment (thankfully the only comment the plagiarised copy has received!) asking for it to be removed at once.

I sincerely hope she is successful and I hope your efforts to highlight the problem can be rewarded in some way.

I first filed a DMCA complaint for Blogger with Google. That usually works pretty quickly.

    holy moly!
There's a TON of hubpages stuff on there!
Even the one that's the HOTD right now (strawberry jello cake) ... I'm searching through them right now to see if any of my hubs are up there...

There also seems to be a lot of HOTD Hubs copied onto this website. If one of your Hubs was HOTD recently, you might want to take a look.

Should we post anything in the comments section to notify them that this content is stolen from HP? Is there anything HP can do directly? Considering it literally looks like these people just went and basically copied everything off of Hubpages...

If I find any more links that I know are items from Hubpages, I'll post them in here to help let other Hubbers know so they can take action.

    1. merej99 profile image74
merej99posted 10 years agoin reply to this

It's their ENTIRE site!  I've been posting to people whose sites I've read here.  It's sickening!  Can HP do anything about this?

      1. Cardisa profile image88
Cardisaposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Unfortunatley HP does not own the copyright to our content so only us, the copyright owners, can do anything.

@JessBraz, that's a great idea, posting on their hubs that it was stolen.

        1. merej99 profile image74
merej99posted 10 years agoin reply to this

Yeah but you know what, Cardisa - HP SHOULD care because if it's diverting views from hubpages it affects THEIR income too.  Just saying.
Things like this make me so mad!

        2. JessBraz profile image91
JessBrazposted 10 years agoin reply to this

I emailed a couple of Hubbers to let them know directly...
Should we also post in the comments section on the travelcloud website that we know this content was stolen or should we leave that up to the hub authors themselves? If the people at travelcloud all of a suddent start getting comments galore on "their" articles that the content is stolen, maybe they might react?

      2. JessBraz profile image91
JessBrazposted 10 years agoin reply to this

I sure as heck hope so. This is crazy and unfair to everyone who worked so hard to just have all of their stuff blatantly ripped off like this! I'm sending emails to a few of the hub owners whose stuff I've seen on there... Not everyone on HP is active in these forums, so they might not see this and know to look for their content.

Please do NOT, give this guy a backlink. Notice my original post only had links to the original hubs. Please break the link to the stolen content.
A PR 6 link or higher is a good thing for him.

Yeah, I was trying to make it so the links to the travelcloud website wouldn't actually work, but still put the info in their so hubbers can find their work quickly.. I put spaces in the link figuring that would prevent them from being active links, but  it didn't seem to work?  I'm fixing it right now. My bad

        1. Cardisa profile image88

I also looked up the phone number that is listed on the above and found this:
    http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewto … p;p=184422

So - if they are known scammers and diverting traffic thereby stealing potential income do you think HP might intervene a little?  What say you Robin and crew?

That's the phone number of the privacy registration service and it probably has tens of thousands of sites registered.  The registration service is not responsible for the content of a website.

Paul, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, it's very helpful for HP to get involved in fighting the scrapers and thieves. Is there any possibility of getting ongoing monitoring and intervention?  We simply don't have the ability to fight this one-by-one.

The beautiful HOTD today with the strawberry Jell-O cake is there with photos & all, and even shows Heather's copyright notice.

Big props to Cardisa for letting everyone know this is happening.

I saw Heather's copyright notice too. How blatant is that, if the guy hasn't even taken the trouble to remove her copyright notice?! He's just copied and pasted - 10 seconds work. At least there can't be any dispute about the rightful owner of that article!

I'd rather think they used a script or whatever other program for such a purpose. Copying and pasting would have taken too much time...

The list of links in the post on page one of this thread still show 'blue,' so maybe they need to be moderated from HP's end.

    1. Cardisa profile image88
Cardisaposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Those links are the actual hubs Marcy and not the stolen content. I have been very vigilant in trying to keep the thief from getting our valuable backlinks...lol What we have done is post the URL to the stolen content then post the hubs beside it so the hubbers have it much easier.

      1. Marcy Goodfleisch profile image84
Marcy Goodfleischposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Cardisa - I wasn't referring to your post - there's one by another Hubber that appears to have live links to the site that stole hubs.

        1. JessBraz profile image91
JessBrazposted 10 years agoin reply to this

that was me.. and i fixed it... you should only be able to see the URL for the links to the stolen content..the active links are to the hubs that are published here on HP.

Just to cheer everyone up (not) there are 102,000 results for "content scraping software" in Google. Wouldn't it be nice if this software could be removed from the web?

  15. profile image0

I also filed to NameCheap, their registrar. They sent me a reply that they will look into the case as well. Normally registrars don't really mind such things but this time they seem to be interested.
