A dream, nice but unreachable at this time in humanities development.  In another millenia, maybe, but not now.

We should pray for world peace.  We should pray for our world leaders. We should pray for our country and we should have faith in God. Its God's world.

Yes, He certainly Has! World conditions would be much worse if it wasn't for the Positive loving force of God holding together what we let go, undo, destroy, take for granted, deviate, disrespect and obliterate.

Maybe God wants us to do these things for ourselves. Make our own peace, and stand on our own feet.

Are you sure about that? I have visions of very successful  global water treatment program that might do the trick - instead of introducing fluoride to protect teeth. we add liquid THC, (from Colorado of course), to mellow everyone out.

Think about it, do you remember any news stories about violent stoners?

Not sayin' much. THC is a drug and there are side effects. To joke about Pot is not funny.  Smoking the stuff is self induced mental retardation. Who the heck wants pot-induced peace. Not me.
Should pregnant mothers be ingesting THC in any form?

Soma (Sanskrit सोम sóma), or Haoma (Avestan), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *sauma:

"It was a Vedic ritual drink of importance among the early Indo-Iranians, and the subsequent Vedic and greater Persian cultures. It is frequently mentioned in the Rigveda, whose Soma Mandala contains 114 hymns, many praising its energizing qualities." Wikipedia

I think you have to do some time traveling to obtain it. Perhaps it would be a better option than THC, if we could only get some. We could add it to the e-cig water.

Social critic Neil Postman contrasted the worlds of Nineteen Eighty-Four and Brave New World in the foreword of his 1985 book Amusing Ourselves to Death. He writes:

"What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egotism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Postman added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that our desire will ruin us.

"In the book, soma is a hallucinogen that takes users on enjoyable, hangover-free "holidays". It was developed by the World State to provide these inner-directed personal experiences within a socially managed context of State-run "religious" organisations; social clubs. The hypnopaedically inculcated affinity for the State-produced drug, as a self-medicating comfort mechanism in the face of stress or discomfort, thereby eliminates the need for religion or other personal allegiances outside or beyond the World State."

It's also way too relative for realistic use.  One person's "greed" is another's "necessity", and one's "aggression" is another's "self defense".

My guess is we ought to educate ourselves and share what we learn with our children, friends, family or complete strangers.  If we want peace, we must strike at the roots of war.  Questioning everything will help to erode the stories which conceal war’s origins.  Once the roots are revealed, we must vehemently, collectively and consistently denounce them where ever their ugly heads rear.  It will not be quick or easy at all, but it’s not impossible. If we persist, our numbers will grow to a tipping point and the rest will follow.

Peace is achieved by destroying your enemies will to fight, there is no other path to peace.  Peace is a a condition following a war.  The notion of world peace means world control.  The only long term periods of general peace in the world was a consequence of hegemonic control by a super power. Pax Romana was a product of a massive Roman state whose military reach prevented any major wars.  It required a brutal enforcement of the law. Pax Americana was a product of the American military hyper-power following WWII and was marked by no major wars but many small regional ones.  With the fading of Pax Americana the world has become increasingly violent.  The brutal genocides in Rawanda, Congo and Darfur/Sudan demonstrate that, the little bit of peace an active American world presence produced, has come to an end.

World peace is as silly a fantasy as the end of want.

Humans are naturally competative. They don't like "other" people taking over their lands, or just what's thiers. People will always be this way, as long as we are people. So, no , I don't think we can have lasting peace living as humans, as we do now.

People in a general sense aren't peaceful creatures.

And wasn't it those South American Indians and their jungles where that psychedelic frog was discovered - you know, the one that gives you an LSD high if you lick its forehead.

And those Australian dudes, have you seen the pipes they smoke? They even have traditions and myths about it. They call it "Dreamtime" or "Dreamings" - a oneness of person, body, spirit, ghost, shadow, name, spirit site and totem.  Whoa man, they called the stuff pituri. They say It came from a shrub called the Duboisia hopwoodii, but it is probably just some cannabis relative. Good budders do look a lot like shrubs.

Human beings are NOT naturally competitive. They are naturally cooperative. Competitiveness is LEARNED behaviour, and this is drummed into us from an early age, and relentlessly from then on.

You only have to watch children playing. They derive JOY simply from playing together. There is no concept of, or necessity to WIN anything.

What would the child you once were, think of the adult you have become?

The greatest human beings, those who inspire us and touch our very essence, our deepest sense of humanity, were NOT competitive.
          Jesus, Gandhi, Buddha etc.

          Surely that tells you something?
We are conditioned to be competitive, to win, to be the best.

If you want to truly be the best, try being the best human being you can possibly be. Surely that is a tough enough competition for you?

He has to stay on the meta (beyond) physical realm because he has given us free-will. (Or should I say, we have taken it.)

No matter what, he must let us reap our own consequences and learn from our own mistakes. Those mothers got pregnant when they shouldn't have. They will learn from their suffering.

Hopefully, others will help them through charitable donations. On the positive side, they will learn to appreciate others and learn to trust the world through the world's help. Hopefully, the world will step up to the challenge.

Stop pouring mercury into the environment. Why am I afraid to eat seafood?

Stop genetic-engineering of food. Why am I afraid to eat corn?

Stop with tainted immunizations which might be creating autism. Why am I so afraid my new infant grand son will become autistic due to being inoculated?

Stop with over-medicating people with pharmaceuticals when natural cures are much safer and permanent.
Why am I afraid to go to movie theaters or school campuses?

We are in an ever increasing un-peaceful world due to the insistence of unnatural practices/solutions.

    Another Tip:
Most diseases are caused by unnatural processed foods and an overabundance of eating them. If you want to be peaceful...
Be healthy!  Eat right!  Vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, a little dairy, a little meat. Eat for energy. Not to satiate the senses.
Exercise,  get fresh air and enjoy life!
