“The afterlife looks different to every soul," he said, "depending on what they believe. For that guy, Egypt must've made a strong impression when he was young, maybe."

"And if someone doesn't believe in any afterlife?" I asked.

Walt gave me a sad look, "Then that's what they experience.”

    - Rick Riordan

This quote is from my favorite book, The Serpents Shadow, by Rick Riordan. This quote is the the reason why I love this author, he's amazing.

What do you guys think of this quote? What do you believe?

A strong statement that "afterlife" is a make believe scenario.

My opinion?  After thousands of years of reportedly seeing ghosts and talking to dead people, there has not been a single verified instance of either.

It does indeed seem to be a make believe scenario.

There is the possibility that there is nothing, but being nothing, we would not be aware that it is nothing and could not be unhappy about it, the positive tales of those who have had near death experiences perhaps becoming an eternity. My gut feeling, though, is that there is something and I agree with the above post that it is simply a part of reality, a reality waiting for us. And I think it is going to be good.

    Afterlife,  any opinion is dead.

After - life one is dead. Even if one has an opinion regarding afterlife,  its mute ones one is dead.

I would disagree with the afterlife being whatever you believe it to be.

If it exists then it is simply a part of reality we lack the ability to experience, at this moment and in this particular section of reality. We can't recreate reality to suit our fancy on this level. So, I see no reason to believe belief would affect the nature of reality on another. That would be like thinking a child in the womb could change the weather in Florida.

      Nice opinion. Very facinating.

There is an afterlife life. But more likely an afterlife sleep. Jesus is not asleep, however. He is awake in spirit. He gave us the keys to be awake in this life and in after-life. But, the "laborers are few." We come back every 500 years, give or take, to try to wake up again. So, after a long 500 year sleep, we'll be back… it will be the year 6950 or plus/minus.
