Is merging accounts possible?

    Hey all!

I'm well aware that I cannot change my HubPages username (why this is I've no idea), so I'd hoped to open up a new account for the sole purpose of having a different - and more serious - name. If I knew that spaces were allowed in username creation as on most sites they aren't, then I would've had my Christian name.

So what exactly is the problem? I don't want to lose over 350 followers, 150 Hubs and contact with the people I'm currently following. Because copying Hubs from one account to another can lead to all kinds of problems, as well as not show up on search engines, I don't want to go through all that fuss. At least I've heard that's what happens, but if not I'd love some clarification! I would much prefer instead to merge my accounts, having the old articles on *this* profile going to the new username one.

I have a lot of articles. I don't want to spend what little time I have copying and pasting them over, only to be told they've been turned down due to the quality assessment and all that. Is there anyway HubPages can do this for me, rather than me do it myself? I'd hate to stop writing here because I overlooked the username creation rules.

    Cheers,
    -- John.

Merging accounts by any seamless means does not exist.  The clunky unpublish-move-republish technique of your own doing is your only option.

Thanks for the response! I'm confused as to why HubPages can't merge or even allow name changes, but I'll try what you said. Cheers!

I rather suggest you open a new account while you still maintain the old one. If you unpublished your work, and then you republish them again... it may affect your earnings seriously.

As I don't monetise my works, that won't affect me. But thanks for the info anyway!

Or, you can just make things easier for yourself. If you only want to show your christian name, then editing your profile and just add your name in the real name section will show your name. That way, you can keep your traffic and earnings intact and still let people know who you are, if that's your only purpose.

        Hope this helps. Good luck.

Many sites do not allow you to change your username after you create an account. Does it really make much of a difference what your username is? You can display your real name in your profile so people will know who you are.
