   The supposed scientific justification behind humanism has been proven invalid and its promises vain. Nevertheless, humanists have not abandoned their philosophy, but rather, in fact, have tried to spread it throughout the world through methods of mass propaganda. Especially in the post-war period there
   
   has been intense humanist propaganda in the fields of science, philosophy, music, literature, art and cinema. The attractive but hollow messages created by humanist ideologues have been insistently imposed upon the masses. The song "Imagine," by John Lennon, soloist of the most popular music group of all times, the Beatles, is an example of this:
   
   Imagine there's no heaven
   
   It's easy if you try
   
   No hell below us
   
   Above us only sky
   
   Imagine all the people
   
   Living for today...
   
   Imagine there's no countries
   
   It isn't hard to do
   
   Nothing to kill or die for
   
   And no religion too...

   This song was chosen as the "song of the century" in several polls that were held in 1999. This is a good indication of the sentimentality with which humanism, lacking any scientific or rational foundation, is imposed on the masses. Humanism can produce no rational objection to religion or the truths it teaches, but attempts to employ suggestive methods such as these.

      I'm not all that familiar with the beliefs of "humanism", but I think the point Lennon was trying to make in his song is that there is so much violence heaped upon each other in the name of God, or borders, or cultures, or race! Remember, religion is a man made idea, each one espousing it's own view of god, it's own practices and customs and yet each remarkably similar yet all provide for converting the masses...why? If God is a good thing, then why should it matter which religion a person chooses to honor God? Why should we fight wars and claim "god is on our side"? Why should we convert others to our belief?

         You'd have to agree that Castro's view is not without merit. The Beatles were among the most influential figures in the century, and for a long time (though not latterly) John was treated pretty badly by the authorities.
         
         Have you noticed how many old dictators mellow eventually? Gadaffi is another. Wonder how old Saddam might have turned out...

               As George Harrison said of John: "He wasn't a saint, but he was."
               One of the things that made all of the Beatles great, together and apart, was that they never forgot their roots. The remained humble people despite the enourmous success. John was killed just trying to be kind to a guy on the street asking for an autograph.

   I am 100% non-religious, a complete non believer. But you know what, I never try and impose that on anybody.
   
   I happen to like John Lennon's songs. The Beatles are the best selling artists of all times and John Lennon was an incredibly talented musician.
   
   Then some idiot shot him because they thought about very simple songs in too much depth, a little like you are now.

   Mark David Chapman was a delusional, obsessed, psychotic, sociopath who thought that he was a character from a novel. At age 16 he became a born again Christian. He was a religious person. He said that a small part of him was the devil and that's why he killed John. He was just plain crazy. So again sir, don't talk about what you don't know.

      There have been many throughout history.  Perhaps the most influentual was Harpo Marx.  His philosophy, known as Marxism, advocated the abolishment of all verbal communication, replacing it with facial gestures and intricate honking of a bicycle horn which he wore at his waist like a pistol.  Many people who are fearful of the influence of Freemasons are also very outspoken against Marxism.

             It was a hot night in Australia when we heard of John Lennons murder.
             Our musician neighbor pulled his piano out in to the street in the inner city, and about twenty neighbors sang "Imagine" It was a great loss of a musician with an open heart.

       Yeah just a song.  But throughout history some revolutions have started with just a song.  In the Politics forum a person that openly describes himself as an anarchist started a thread titled "Abuse of Power" referring to the abuse of power in the US.  The thread led to a fairly revolutionary song by Mike & The Mechanics called Silent running.

    Well speaking as an expert on the Beatles and their solo careers, backed up by having spoken at Universities on the Beatles. I will say John said Imagine no religion as a way of Imagining "us" having no difference, nothing to divide us. His intent was never to deny God or religions. As he said in his last interview following the Double Fantasy sessions, " Well you have to Thank God that we all survived"... and went on to mention several things like watergate, vietnam, the 60's etc
