Load Time Has Slowed

   I've noticed a significant change in the speed at which HP pages are loading. It's changed noticeably since last Saturday, the 15th. I'm using Chrome (the most recent version). I'm not having this problem with any other site or page I visit. I'm also using Win7.

      Clear cache, run a PC cleanup app and you should be ok. Remember HubPages is in California and had an earthquake at 3:30AM Saturday night/Sunday morning, so who knows is that has had any effect on the site.

         Thank you. I had done that. But, I'll wait a few days to see if anything changes. I have C-Cleaner installed.

            I thought of this after I posted, but we have a lot more traffic here on this site than we used to with all the new accounts. So that might be a factor.  Also if you have a lot of ads on a page, the page will load very very very very slowly. lol
            
            I use Adblock Plus to block the ads, and I think it is a much faster HubPages without the ads.

               Interesting. I'd not installed AdBlock previously because it seemed to be a problem for some lensmasters when on the Squidoo pages. I may have to revisit that option. The sudden increase in traffic due to the migration of Squidoo folks is something I had thought of. I ruled it out because I figured the tekkie team here would have planned for it.

   The HubPages servers are not in San Franciso with their office.
   
   However, a major site redesign and content expansion is about to happen.

   Pages appear to be loading normal.  As per the tool @Sue Adams used to show some potential issues, we've dug into these and the display ads are by far the biggest thing slowing down the site.
   
   We were in the middle of working on them when the Squidoo opportunity arose.  We hope to get back to it shortly.
   
   The page speed times without ads is now quite good after we made some changes earlier this year to the social buttons.

      It was pointed out that Sue pointed to a profile page.  We are focusing on tuning Hubs for performance since that is the vast majority of views.  We will take a look at profile pages a bit more down the road.
