    Hey guys,
I think that the way hub pages is designed is not a fair way to promote writing pieces of those writers that do not have many or any traffic through their page yet they may have extraordinary posts. I believe that there should be a section of "New Writing" in the explore section where Huber and other viewers can scroll through and comment positive feedback on the genre writing piece that they choose. What do you think?

I am fairly new to hub pages and I noticed that the main tricky part to hub pages after writing ices, is getting traffic. I was wondering what kind of things and actions I should take to increase my total traffic through my page and so that other newbees might also to the same. I would love to have some feedback on ideas on how to get more traffic and your opinion on this topic.

Your newly published hub is displayed on the home page of all of your followers. If you read and comment on other people's hubs, they may come to read yours.

Do you use Social Media to retrieve traffic to your articles? My main traffic comes from Google and Twitter.

Welcome to Hub Pages!  Hub pages does, in fact, promote hubs.  Please see this article on featured hubs:  http://hubpages.com/faq/#Featured.  Also, you can promote your own hubs on social media.  Personally, I use Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook.  Also, people who read your hubs can promote them by using the social networking chicklets in the side of each hub and by sharing them in their own feeds.  So there are plenty of ways that both you and Hub Pages can generate traffic to your hubs.

Why should it be? HubPages is a business, it exists to make a profit from the advertising revenue on Hubs.  Hubs which do not get traffic do not earn advertising revenue, so they are not profitable to the site owners.

It's true, if they created some special features to promote low-traffic Hubs, they might earn a bit more - but probably not enough to justify the time and expense of programming those extra features. You see, HubPages makes most of its money when people actually click on ads, and especially when they buy stuff.  Readers only do that if they came to the Hub looking for something to buy.  Readers don't come to a fiction Hub because they want to buy something - so even with better traffic, those Hubs aren't likely to be profitable.

There are writing sites which exist especially to promote fiction writing within a community of writers.

Try writing fiction alongside ' how to articles' about how to write. I am sure you have lots experience and knowledge. This could and would be useful , not only to fiction writers, but writers of all genres. e.g.How to create a character; how to write for your intended audience and so on...

      Good Luck,

      Nina

Actually HubPages gives any single writer who comes here the exact same chance, which is rather extraordinary.  If you think it's unfair, why did you voluntarily choose to come here with your writing?

I feel like I am being corralled into a social media fence on Hub pages.
After watching carefully regarding Hub ratings (and when it happens etc) I have felt this distinctly "corralling effect" by the site structure.
Social media is a totally different exercise to actual writing.
To me personally social media is for what we call "bogans" here in Australia; or in the USA "trailer trash".

The sections made have to meet reader needs to be effective.  When it comes to fiction this demand can be quite limited.  You might try drawing in people seeking new fiction from places they congregate like Wattpad or DeviantArt.  For example you could put the first part of the story there and direct them here for the full story.

It is my observation that crass social media "skills" are needed. I call it McCulture! It makes what should be a creative experience all about fake social media.
