earnings update

   What is going on? It is 12:30 in the afternoon and my earnings have not updated from yesterday morning. Stats on viewers have updated and I may have had my best day yet.  I am only earning pennies per day, but at least I should be able to get the gratification of seeing a few more pennies in my account every morning.
   
   Also why can't earnings update several times a day, the way the stats do.  And why are stats, which I read someplace when I first joined  are supposed to update every 3 to 4 hours, going 10 to 12 hours  before they update. It may not matter to long-time hubbers, but as a newbie, I want to see those stats increase. Wen I do a new hub, I want to know quickly if it is as good as or better than my former ones.

      This is common here at HP, especially on weekends or around pay days (the 28th of each month).  I have seen it go as long as 48 hours prior to updating.
      
      You can use Google Analytics to get a good idea of what you are earning on any given day and/or at any time of the day.
      
      Although their numbers run a bit differently than those here at HP, they are a pretty good indication of page views.
      
      By the way, those stats all include your own views as well as those of others.

         Thanks it finally updated. I thought maybe since HP recently acquired Squiddo, they weren't up to handling the increased volume. That is about when I stared seeing delays.
         
         It's weird that your own views count.  Maybe instead o writing, I should just spend he day viewing

      Catherine, do you sit and watch paint dry because you think that will make it dry faster?  I'm sure you don't, but that's what you're doing by looking at your stats and earnings every day.  Traffic fluctuates.  If you want to learn anything from your stats, you need to look at a month or several months - one day's traffic tells you nothing.
      
      In particular, when you do a new Hub, your stats aren't telling you anything meaningful.   Most people will get a first flush of visits from within HubPages - so if you look at the early stats on your  Hubs, they're not a reflection of the real traffic you'll get on a regular basis.

         I don't have months of data to look at.  And I am a little obsessed. But you are correct. I'll try to back off. Right now this is my new toy. Also, if I see a hub without any hits for a week, I do a social media blast and that seems to revive it. Everyone says I shouldn't expect much google traffic to begin with, maybe the whole first year. Or maybe different topics would do better for me even at the beginning.

      Earnings data has to be sourced from the advertisers before it can be shared with you. If the advertisers are taking longer to relay information, Hubpages can't tell you what it doesn't know, and even then it's likely to change as the numbers are verified.
      
      
      
      I wouldn't recommend it. If the advertisers catch on, you could be penalized for inflating impressions. I think Google tends to disregard your own adsense impressions, but if it looks like someone is viewing their own ads too many times to drive up earnings, they will ban an account. Once you're banned, it's next to impossible to get the ban reversed.

         I was just joking. There's no fun in clicking.  I like the satisfaction I get from writing. Also, I kinda thought that when it came to ads, they could separate out our own viewing.  I really wish they wouldn't include them in the stats. On my blogs, I can select to not have my views included.

            You earn between $2 and $5 per thousand views on HubPages, so obviously you need thousands of views to make any income.  In that context, whether your own small number of views count, makes very little difference.

   My increases in earnings overall has dwindled to the point of not even checking daily, lol.  Two years ago, payout every month, one year ago, payout every two months, present day payout, possibly once every three months.
