Simple Question - How to Get More Followers?

   I know the basics. Write, write, and write. Throw keywords in that attract people to the articles. Communicate and post on the forums and ask questions. But, what are some other ways to get followers to your hubpage?

      I think fallowing more members and giving answers to the questions can get us more followers. Active participation in Form can get us more followers.

         While there isn't a particular benefit to having followers, there are ways to get them.  These include being active, participating in the forums and reading and commenting on hubs, and participating in community sites like Facebook. The best way though is simply through writing and patience.  Writing interesting hubs on topics that are interesting will get you followers that actually read your hubs, and maybe even share them.

      Do you mean followers or do you mean readers?
      
      Followers are internal to HubPages.  They're other writers, who meet you on the forums.  They will give you only a small trickle of traffic, but they can be a great source of moral support.
      
      There is no way to get followers from outside HubPages.   You don't have an RSS feed the way a blog does, so even if a reader likes your work, they can't sign up for your future Hubs.  Anyway, the vast majority of readers won't even notice you as a writer (look at a Hub and notice how tiny your byline is).    Most of your readers have come to HubPages in search of information on a specific topic, not to find new writers - so few readers click on the byline to read more of YOUR work.  They're far more likely to click on one of the "related Hubs" at the bottom to read more about their topic. 
      
      That may be a blow to your ego, but it's just the way HubPages works.  Although we each have our own sub-domain, that's just an administrative thing - HubPages is really more like one big magazine, and we're all staff writers.

         That is such an interesting way to look at the way this works... I'm still figuring out the whole scene myself.  Is it social media?  Is it a writer's forum?  Is it a blog?  Is it just a bunch people trying to make money from advertising?  I've committed to my part in it for now, but I'm curious to see how it will pan out in the long run...

            HubPages' declared mission is to make money from long, information rich, magazine-style articles for both the site and its writers.
            
            People do use the site for other purposes, but they are all minor sideshows to the main mission of the site.   It is definitely not a blogging site, because there is no way for readers to follow your articles sequentially.

      At just four days, putting your attention to content will be way more rewarding than spending any focus on followers.

   You want your primary traffic to come from search engines. Many use social networks, as well as pinterest, but although you  may get some traffic, it may be low.  There are various hub pages groups for hubbers to place links to their hubs, as well as other writing groups on Facebook. Google Plus is another way to get some traffic.

   My question would be: what do you think are the benefits of getting more followers?
   
   Basically be active, let time pass, and you will get them.  But what you get paid for is hub traffic and the vast majority of that will come form search engines and external links.

   One thing to definitely not do is to have the ratio of followers/following on your profile that I have on mine. People take one look at that and immediately know I don't do automatic follow backs.
