I recently made my own website, http:/ /johnburgdorf.webs.com/ . I have been getting almost no traffic. I want a good website with free traffic, not alot of emails, and that you successfully get good traffic from. Anyone know a good one that fits my needs? Thanks
John, you get traffic by creating a good website. It doesn't really make that much difference which blogging platform you use. Getting traffic takes WORK!
HubPages is a good place to start, because you're effectively creating pages on their website (which already has a good reputation) rather than starting out all on your own. Plus, you'll learn the skills to enable you to create a decent website in due course.
We would all like "a good website with free traffic" but unfortunately it has to be built over time.
Hubpages is an excellent learning ground - if you can build a hub that gets lots of search engine traffic you can transfer the techniques to building your own site. There is no getting away from thorough keyword research, unique content and link building for each hub, or page of your own site.
Search the hubs for building your own website and you'll find lots of useful information.
There are no ethical shortcuts that I'm aware of.
For a non-HP site, you can use all those traffic generators or paid traffic thingy's not if you be usin adsense on that other site tho.
Also, I keep seeing things that say 'post your website to google'. What does that mean?
No don't suggest your url to Google it will take much longer, go and digg.com you site url, include you keywords in the title and the comments box, and you will find you site listed within google within 2 - 24 hours. this creates a backlink to your site from a major PR site. The way to get noticed is to writes good stuff and get lots of backlinks, not just backlinks to your homepage but backlinks to your post also. take a look at my hubs for help on seo and keywords.
Write decent stuff, make it search engine friendly, and it'll happen.
I started my blog on my website in May, and I do about 2 posts a week. It's currently getting an average of 423 views a day (that's for July). Over the past week, the low has been 888 and the high 1,754 per day.
If you use Digg, etc, make sure you don't spam the sites, digg other stuff too, much more than your own site.
Well done on those numbers - definately beat mine!
Johnb0127, I use a free blogger website. I have two blogs, and whilst neither have many posts, and I have done little backlinking work etc, they generally get at least 10 views a day on each from search engines, so it is possible!
Your renewable energy blog is fantastic, but a very competitive area, I think? Mine is easier.
What I feel that socialsites plays a very vital role to get more traffic such as digg, reditt, myspace, facebook such kind of sites. If you r not using google adsense at first stage u can use manual traffic to let all know about your site.

Curious: Do you have multiple accounts, because your profile shows 68 hubs. I took a lot of mine and moved them. I let what I have left sit til it goes idle then I take remove it. I have over 80 articles, new ones, that are not published here, but elsewhere. Earnings are less than 2 bucks a month....

Are we allowed to place a link to our website on our hubs of the same topic? If so, could you use a sentence such as: Find out more about (topic) at my website (link)? Can we place links on our webpage to our hubs?

This may seem like a silly question, but I was wondering:I am currently working on getting a Website up and running, and the purpose will basically be to have a portfolio online. Am I able to essentially copy and past my own articles, or link them somehow (I am learning here lol!) without rocking...

I have been a member of hub pages for 11 months now and am starting to find my way around with the help of many hub pages friends. Does anyone know of a very simple way to create your own website or blog page. I say "Very Simple" because I am not great with all the modern technology,and...
