President Obama for? Let us count the ways e.g. Obama"care" - yep the disaster which keeps on becoming even more so and the influx of illegals, low skilled and often illiterate, who are exhausting our social systems for once.  Tell us how you would love to "thank" our "illustrious" president.

But first, please provide the required citations and statistics that support your accusations. Thanks.

I'm not sure why you have limited this to conservatives, but I would like to thank the president for taking a position that could have gotten him killed, in order to serve our country. I would like to thank him for showing every American born minority group that there is no office to high for them to aspire to, and in spite of any and all failures, for attempting to succeed. I would also like to congratulate him for the choice of his beautiful, dignified and impressive wife, our first lady.

Not only conservatives but independents, libertarians, and discerning liberals.  Yes, there are thinking and discerning liberals who are against Obama's policies- Obama"care", having illegals coming in, the Benghazi scandal, the shameful treatment of veterans, and in general, turning America into a socialist state.  Being liberal does not mean supporting Obama's socialist policies at the peril of the American people-liberalism means respecting people's rights and their right to lead their lives as they want as long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others.

I don't know, Grace, while Obama is not perfect, I shudder to think what a Romney administration would have wrought. I seem to get the impression that progressives and liberals viewpoints are without question in error on its face.

While the conservative viewpoint that paints Obama as nothing less than a disaster, is "naturally" the correct assessment. Yes, all the same, I am a discerning liberal who remains fundamentally distrustful of the GOP/Conservative agenda.

It is not the Liberal nor Progressive faction that is problematic but the EXTREME Liberal and Left who are quite problematic in terms of political beliefs.  The illegal situation has escalated then there is the issue of letting people with ebola in this country i.e. Mr. Duncan who eventually died.   Also sending our troops to places where ebola is rampant to build hospitals thus eventually infecting the troops.  I, too, am a Liberal-a discerning one.   One does not have to be conservative to be against some of Obama's policies.  Thank you Credence for responding!

And, that is the reason Congress is now Filibuster Central with the exact reform we would all like to see?

            You're welcome.
I don't know what the extreme left really is... Most of the democratic leadership is just left of center, these days. After all, Obama is hardly a bomb throwing radical but proposed a health care approach not that much different than that in Mass. that had Romney's support. It is not a new concept.

But I surely know of the radical right and conservatism on steroids and I doubt that this faction has any real solution to our problems except a return to the 19th century.

Grace, I too am troubled about the real purpose of Obama sending troops into Africa to control the Ebola outbreak, for what purpose. I am mad about the fact that we allow our space program to flounder, no new launch vehicles?

But I simply trust Obama's instincts much more than I do the 'other guys' It just annoys me that so many conservatives sees the culmination of what ails us as Obama's fault, when it was the accumulation of problems which, if you ask me,  started with Reagan in the 1980's, the guy the right always love to call a 'hero'. The one that does not make mistakes is the one that does nothing at all, real leadership means action. Our less illustrious presidents, James Buchanan or Calvin Coolidge for instance, could attest to that. I have not crowned Obama king, it is just in my experience, I give more credence to progressive estimate over conservative 'facts'.

Got off topic a bit, did not mean to vent!!

You're not venting at all but adding to the discussion.  The extreme conservative is also a problem as well as the extreme left.  However, I trust the extreme left more than the extreme right.  You are correct in your premise that the extreme right want to return to "yesteryear" where women were submissive, children were unobtrusive, and people of color were in their place.   If there were two choices, the extreme left would be more tolerable than the extreme right. While I am a Liberal, I am a discerning Liberal who believe in the rights of all to live at their fullest human potential physically, mentally, and socioeconomically.

I believe in the rights of women to have reproductive freedom, for equality of the LGBT community, and all oppressed people to assert their rights.  I believe in thinking outside the box and in searching for new yet intelligent solutions to the problem at hand.  However, I do not believe in the welfare system as it is presently.  I believe in trimming the welfare system at least 50% and that all able bodied people should work. I also believe in legal immigration and selecting only those immigrants who will benefit a particular society. This is a GREAT discussion, well have a Blessed Night!

I just want the taxes to stay low. Therefore, I am a selfish mean, uncaring, hard hearted person.
                Sorry about that.
I just want to keep the Constitution of the United States intact. Therefore, I am a non-progressive, old-school, moldy rock.
                Sorry about that.
I just want to eradicate threats to our security. Therefore, I am a warmonger
                Sorry about that.

What do I have to be thankful for?
A bad opinion of myself. The need to apologize for my politically incorrect opinions.

                Sorry for existing.

So, bring in the Ebola virus!

Thank you for taking my life so I don't have to commit suicide as the country transforms from a noble democratic republic into a socialist country.

Very well said, Kathryn, this is indeed an INTELLIGENT response.  Our country is gradually going ......going......going.  Everyone who is cognizant of the political atmosphere sees this.  America as it is currently is going.........INSANE.   Kathryn, your premise is succintly spot ON!  All of us should fear the ebola virus as the result of unthinkingly leaving them open.   Do you know that a child has died of the eurovirus which was brought in by the illegals?  It is time to close the borders and to cease this influx of illegals.   Let us "thank" Obama for continuing to disrepair this great nation!   Thank you sir Obama(mock voice).

Here is a light at the end of the tunnel, gmwilliams: There is a baby boom no one is speaking of. People today are having children in record numbers. Many who fought for all the social freedoms and advancements our society now enjoys have had children who are having children. I believe the ideals they taught to their children are being transferred to this new generation. They will be willing to fight against invaders from other countries. WW3 could take place on or soil. This generation will have common sense. They will also revere life and freedom.
Gear up everybody. We the people of America will prevail. Take heart, gm.
                    and have faith.
                    I do.

I don't think that there is the remotest chance of the USA becoming a socialist country, remember, for it to do so the majority of the electorate would have to have at least socialist sympathies.

So close the borders to ebola victims already!

Obama made some promises while Romney was a corporate sell out (stooge). I did not like either choice and held my nose while I voted for one of them.

Unfortunate INDEED, Obama was simply the LESSER of the two evils. Romney was sucky so is Obama! Two dolts were running so SOMEONE had to be elected and Obumbler was the "choice." (making wretching noise).

This will continue until we find a way to be able to vote for a competent leader after our own well being. If it is a conservative agenda of cutting back or a liberal agenda of spending, competent leadership will find a middle road. With the scumbags in charge now you can bet it is to remain the same if we don't change it.

Exactly, what we need is an intelligent, grassroots political movement and to elect mature, intelligent, enlightened person who serve the public and work for more positive outcomes.  Most politicians are in it for their own self-aggrandizement, they aren't concerned about serving their constituents.  The average politician view their position as a career move and a source of celebrity.

I agree. You can't forget the money is part of their addiction and clouds their judgment. When posed with a dilemma of the right choice and the profitable choice there is doubt as to what their priorities are. I say take the money or self interest out of the scenario. If made to make a choice devoid of the money may make a change in the way we are governed.

      Sed
What position did he take that could have killed? He has certainly ordered the death of others, to include Americans. His actions violate the Constitution and his legacy, if we should survive his treason, will be the man who almost destroyed America. Since his Presidency, America is more divided, $18 trillion in debt, we face a world that now scoffs and ridicules the President of The United States, our military has been gutted and demoralized in the face of global unrest and a militant Islamic army poised to take over the middle east. Have I mentioned his incessant lying and deceit or his general incompetence or the fact that the minority unemployment  rate has doubled over whites since he took office, but the rumor is that his golf game is improving.
I don't think his wife is beautiful, dignified or impressive, She appears mean and spiteful. Her carriage is less than graceful and she thinks that she has been elected to office. Other than that I would agree with everything you said. And my political position would not be considered conservative.
