Ads Disabled

   I have two hubs that have had ads disabled by a moderator (not automatic filter) due to unsuitable content. Does this mean there was a complaint made by a fellow hubber or do moderators randomly check hubs for content? I know the problem is one image on each hub (though I have seen a lot worse on other hubs) and is it worth my while to just replace these images and ask for the hubs to be re-evaluated? Is there any other disadvantage to these hubs other than attracting no advertising revenue?

      It's likely someone reported it, as moderators are so busy they aren't likely to stumble across it themselves.
      
      However moderators pay no attention to the opinion of the person reporting - if they consider the report isn't justified, they simply dismiss it and you will never know.   
      
      Just replace the offending image or whatever and resubmit.  What's the point of a Hub that can't earn any money?

   They removed the ads on one of my hubs too and the reason was it dealt with the health of men who have a lot of problems in a specific area sexually. It is not in any way shape or form offensive, but helpful. There are other hubs on the topic as well that I have seen on HP. The reason they cited for the ads being removed was that the topic deals with men's sexual health ...I thought, yes, it sure does.  I do not write here to make money, but if I happen to do so, then I think of it as a little bonus, as I have a full-time well-paying job. I just left the hub up for a year or longer and it was one of my highest scoring hubs. Then just recently I decided to unpublish it as it really does not fit my reasons for writing here on HP, however, I did include some of God's truths about marriage and sex and how God wants a married couple to enjoy that part of their intimacy together. The hub, although, unpublished, still scores higher than other hubs that are published.

      You should email team@hubpages.com or use the contact form to ask for a manual review of your article. A moderator may clear it so that it will display ads.
      
      After all, HP has a whole categories for male genital issues and sex education.  It's hard to imagine that they would have disabled ads on all these hubs, and most of them use the "no-no" words.

      edit: actually, a lot of these don't have ads now that I looked.  but still it can't hurt to ask a moderator for a manual check of your hub.

         Oh, really!  Well, I may just do that and did not think we could make any point further on our own behalf.  HP certainly has whole categories for such issues, but I am sure the ads on most are disabled, even though the hubs are related to serious health issues, which are of great interest to many.

      It is sad that important health issues (even if they have a sexual nature) are too controversial for AdSense. I resubmitted my hubs for manual review after changing the two offending pics..which were still very mild and not explicit by the way. It amazes me that Amazon's rules for content are so much more lenient. I have had AdSense ads banned from hubs because an Amazon ad they contained was too explicit.

      I have discovered that Google automatically tries to include ads that have something to do with the hub. I love writing about parrots and a lot of the ads displayed on my/other people's hubs about parrots usually display ads about parrot cages, equipment, etc. This makes sense because bird-enthusiasts reads my hubs and they would be interested in ads about parrots rather than cars or vegetables.
      
      Maybe Google associates the keywords about sex in your hubs with the possibly pornographic ads and displays them? Maybe they've banned it because those ads were inappropriate.
      
      Just an idea! Anyway, good luck with getting your ad thing back up.

   For ex-Squids and new members:  just be aware that if you have ads disabled on a Hub, it's because the content is not compliant with Adsense policies.
   
   if you apply for Adsense with that Hub on your account, Adsense will take one look at it and tell you you have prohibited content, and turn you down.
   
   So save that kind of Hub for after you've got your account.
