Another New Google Algorithm Update

   This one you will like.  This algorithm update targets sites which have had a large number of DMCA notices filed against them and downgrades them on search results pages.
   
   This is a complete update to the first time the algorithm was introduced two years ago.  This update will roll out this week.  (Keep those DMCA notices rolling in!!!) This might affect blogs hosted by Blogger.com or Blogspot.com, recipients of large numbers of DMCA notices and takedown requests.

      I would hope that they don't penalize an entire platform like Blogger for separate blogs that are stealing articles.

         Google Inc. owns and hosts Blogger.com and Blogspot.com.  I don't know what will be done by the algorithm.  Google also owns YouTube, which probably receives more DMCA notices than any other site on the World Wide Web.  I get tired of seeing YouTube videos show up in search results.  It will be interesting to see what the algorithm does to YouTube's presence on search results pages.

      This may possibly be the first time in a months that I've been happy to see the words Google, Algorithm, and Update in a sentence.  It will be a good thing if they hurt the offenders.

   Great news, Writer Fox. This should encourage us to file even more DMCAs, including myself. Early on, I'd just throw up my hands thinking it's bigger than any action I take and will keep happening. But now, if I know about it, I file right away. It's good to know that filing will make a difference now, on a larger scale.

   google.com dropped from PageRank 10 to PageRank 9 after one of their updates a couple of years ago, so they may very well drop their own properties if they are worsening search results. If your website or websites you use get a lot of DMCA notices, then that's an issue to tackle that's bigger than an algo update.
