Lenses now Hubs - Should we leave the comments that mention Squidoo?

   I could not find an answer, searching the forums. On our Lenses that were transferred to HubPages, there are quite a few comments that mention Squidoo. If the word Squidoo isn't actually mentioned, often there will be something that references it.
   
   Are we supposed to leave those comments alone? I believe the answer is "yes", but would like to be sure.

      I would never delete a comment simply because it mentioned Squidoo, or anything related to Squidoo. to do so would remove some of the article's history or longevity. I have noticed that my dashboard shows the number of page views "ever". Often that number is nearly half of the number of comments. Which demonstrates that they number of page views ever is incorrect. I imagine "ever" refers to since moving to HP, but ever means ever...
      
      I have, however, removed any mention of lens, lenses, and Squidoo in all of my articles. Several months prior to the demise of Squidoo, I began calling them articles rather than the dumb name "lens". I'm not wild about the name "hub" either, because with either "lens" or "hub" I still have to explain to people what that is, so I prefer the universally understood term "article". But that's just me.

         I have noticed the same. Even though friends know I write online, I mention a "hub" and get a blank stare. I use the word "article" as well. If people don't know what we are talking about, it doesn't help us get traffic in any way.

      The only time I've done it is when it only says "nice lens" without anything else.  The comment has no reference point and seem out of place because no one knows will know what a lens is.  But, if they gave a nice comment and mention squidoo/lenses I'm leaving them.   I'm not putting much effort at all into this.
      
      There are some that have said they felt that having a lot of comments on a hub that only say "nice lens", "great lens", etc., might be viewed by search engines as spammy.  I'm not sure if that is correct or not.

      I see that Maria and other Hubbers have offered some great advice. I'd just like to add that on-topic comments that relate directly to your Hub's subject and contribute to the conversation should not be deleted, even if they mention Squidoo, since they will still have value for your readers. If, however, the comment is off topic and does not contribute significant value (e.g. "Great Lens!" or "Nice Hub!"), it's a good idea to delete-- it even if it doesn't make any mention of Squidoo.
      
      But we do recommend looking through your Hubs and updating phrases like "this Lens" or "here on Squidoo," etc.

   I see no reason to delete them in the comments themselves. As for in the hub, I'd change "lens" to "article" etc.

      Thanks, Lionrhod. I "believe" I did that as fast as I could, on all of them that transferred over, but it won't hurt a thing to check again.

   I've been deleting all the "nice lens" comments on hubs that have comments with other, less Squidoo-centric language.

      Thank you, lisavollrath. I was simply wondering if it hurts anything to leave them in place. I would not want anyone to think their comment was unimportant, as I am always grateful that people take the time to comment at all.

   I wouldn't delete a comment, no matter if they mentioned Squidoo. Comments are good things any way you look at it. Besides, it's part of our history, like it or not.

      Agree Nancy. I'm not ashamed of being a Squidoo member. I just moved on to HubPages to continue writing, as there was no other choice for me, I didn't want to loose all my writing, and I didn't want my own site, already have one, not my thing.
      As a matter of fact I have been a Hub member for over 6 years, just never did any writing, now I have two accounts, I may start writing on my kiwinana hub account when I find time also.
