I am trying to establish the fact the God is a part of the totality of the reality that we inhabit. But it's quite like the scenario of convincing aborigines that a city like LA or Las Vegas exist in the same world where they live in. They might only believe you if you show them a video or photographs of these places. And there is still much doubt how much even these (photographic) 'evidences' would convince them.
I think you might want to look up the word "fact".
What a horrible analogy. LA actually exists.
"What a horrible analogy. LA actually exists. "
~ Of course to 'YOU' Los Angeles definitely exists.
Well, I know you have not travelled much, but I assure you it exists for YOU also.
Glad to know that you can speak for yourself.
Ah well - that is the difference between reality and belief. When I claim LA exists - it doesn't matter what I believe - it exists for everyone. You can go check for yourself.
Hence the fact that your analogy is horrible. LA actually exists.
Have you ever tried to take an aborigine to LA?
Dear me. No wonder god-belief causes so many fights.
Yes - I forgot your mission in life was to cause conflict and hatred. Oh well - must be all that higher consciousness stuff you have access to.
You are correct; aborigines are familiar with paintings and even pictures and are quite aware that both can be faked. The answer, of course, is to take them there, producing the city for them to see and experience. You could perhaps do the same thing with a massive education effort ("See? Here is how you make concrete and steel; here is how you make a big building. Here is how you grow food for all the people, here is how you make trucks to get it there. Here is how you get water, here is how you make power for them". Eventually their knowledge base might be large enough to encompass the possibility, but it does take a lifetime.
In the case of a god, produce that god and everyone will believe just like the aborigine will. Or educate the people ("See? Here is where the god lives, here is how he makes things. Here is how he inserts thoughts into your head, here is how he made a universe with stars"). The only problem here is that we cannot do any of those things as we can't see it and don't know how it was done.
Um, all it would take is that they trust you have seen it in the literal sense of seeing things, that you are sane, and you are truthful. Just like convincing anyone of anything.
Such trust is going to be hard to come by as the claim violates their own closely held and trusted concepts of the gods (nearly all undeveloped cultures contain such beliefs). Not impossible, just difficult.
I see nothing obvious about a big ass city existing being contrary to animist or polytheist and other common subsistence belief systems. For example, the Maori in New Zealand had no trouble believing the British came from a really distant place with a city called London.Nor were they slow to adopt things they could use from that place. The first New Zealand town to have electricity and street lights was a Maori village.
Whups! You're right - I'm tying the analogy to the stated purpose of showing a god. My error.
"All it would take is that they trust you have seen it in the literal sense of seeing things, that you are sane, and you are truthful. Just like convincing anyone of anything."
~ Interesting advice for an atheist.

“What do I think happens when we die? I think we enter into another stage of existence or another state of consciousness that is so extraordinarily different from the reality we have here in the physical world that the language we have is not yet adequate to describe this other state of existence...

Many believers like to say that Atheists should prove that there is no God. Believers should know that existence has to be proved, not the non-existence. If a thing exists, it is possible to prove its existence. So believers should prove the existence of God if he exists. But if they want to do it,...

We need to change our previously held beliefs in order to appreciate what I'm going to propose. My contention is that God is a reality. Some may find it hard to accept that God is a reality. But as I've illustrated earlier ~ it is as difficult as convincing aborigines that a city like Los Angeles...

The following post is in response to a statement made by another hubber and the many posts I've read using logical fallacies:"the burden of proof" is NOT on the believers. There is no burden to prove He exists because it is by FAITH that we believe. It is by faith we called on to believe....

Hithis is something going in my mind.I will write my answer in term of questions but you don't need to answer them as mush as you do for the main topic.(I believe that the first step of knowledge is to be curious and ask)Believing:*do we believe because we need hope?*do we seek for external power...
