I've never really tried to utilize social media to promote anything, until recently. Long ago, I set up a Google + profile, but really never checked on it.

While I was away, it got over 40 million views. How in the heck did that happen?

I don't understand it, and was hoping someone could enlighten me.

Are you talking about G+ views?

Given your activity, this really feels like a lot of pet-oriented folks came here and expected to find something, but instead found a human with a sticky screen name not actually doing anything.

Or maybe it's just from robot-spiders crawling your page.

You might go investigate your stats.

            Never thought of spiders. Hmmm.

If you want to check for spiders, go to Google Analytics.

I'm showing my ignorance again, but I didn't know you could track G+ with analytics.

    You are a magnet, Jim.
Actually, it must be from keywords being searched.
Would be nice to get a penny per view on G+.

        Something you should exploit perhaps!

That is what I was thinking too. Not sure how though. I will attempt to be more active for a while, and see what happens. I was talking to my son about it, and it had him scratching his head too.
I also noticed that the view count went down a few (9), since I checked this morning. Thought that was odd too.

Sounds like timing to me. Sometimes social media works like that, without effort, if you get in on the ground floor of something big.

Did a little digging, and I found a very informative article on the subject.

It said that views of photos in blogger blogs would show up as views on your G+ profile. That is probably how it happened. I have some pretty photo heavy pages.

Soooo many things I still don't know. It's fun to still be learning at my age though.
