listen here, I have told you to leave more than once. I dont care what you have to say now stop taking up space here..
Hey KMackey, don't worry about what everyone has to say. You're right, we all have our opinions, and some can't accept the fact that we all have different opinions and don't have to accept theirs. Too bad for those people, it's really their problem. Your plan of having it appraised and then speaking with your police friend sounds logical. No judging from me.
Yes that is my real plan. It was just a shocker at first to find it. Kinda like finding buried treasure for a moment.
Enjoy the moment...the feeling doesn't last long once reality hits (as everyone here has brought you back to earth).
delete it from imageshack, it won't show anywhere then. Providing you uploaded it only to imageshack.
The one thing I thought of when reading it was found in the woods is that woods are a big place for kids to hide things they don't want people to know they have. (When I was a kid my girlfriend and I wrapped up a package of cigarettes and buried them in the woods "to be safe". They were gone when we went back for them.) Our "careful plan" was to hide them but not so much that we'd not be able to find them later.
There are teens who steal. The kid who worries that his mother may go through his belongings may not bring stolen goods into the house; and a kid who steals and feels bad may just dump whatever he stole. I can't help but wonder if that's more likely where it came from than, say, a dead body. If your neighborhood has a kid or two who steals, that could explain it.
I think I watch too many CSI's and read too many thrillers and detective novels, because I'd never be able to wear that ring without knowing it's history. My first thought, omigod there might be that woman's body lying around there. My second thought, maybe something bad happened in the woman's relationship and she threw it away. Then of course, maybe she was cheating on her husband, making out in the forest and it fell off.
OK. Just so everyone knows. This ring was a fake... Everyone can rest assure the ring I found can be bought at any ring stand for about 10 bucks... Just wanted you all to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for updating us. Not surprising as you probably would have heard a story in the media about someone losing a 10k ring prior to finding it. I think most people would flip out if they lost a ring that huge.
Either way, it's still really sparkly and pretty and has a fun story behind it!
so who ever said for me to call the police, I would have looked like an idiot. lol
nice the ones who were flipping on me last night dont have a thing to say now huh?
yes it was. And it was funny how people were flipping on me as what to do... boy if they were me, they would have looked stupid to call the police...
yep well I just asked the jeweler if it was real or fake and she said it was fake. not worth more than 10 bucks. She actually called it a costume piece. LOL
kmackey, sorry, though, that it didn't turn out to be worth more than that (provided, of course, it didn't come from a murdered woman's finger and wasn't stolen from the elderly neighbor lady's jewelry box ). (It's a pretty ring - so you have that much anyway. )
Hi I was one that said go to cops, but I am still wondering, cheap rings do not have stamps saying 18 caret. That is weird, don't you think. I was once told that they only put genuine stones in High Caret gold rings, that one has me baffled a bit.
Did you get two opinions?
Not true...some people are very allergic to cheap metals and have cubic zirconium/other fake stones on 18k or 14k bands. Sort of unusual, yes, but definitely not impossible.
Also it is not unusual for costume jewelery to be stamped 18carat. Also if it was 18 carat gold plated, the gold would be worth next to nothing.
Very true. A common brand is diamonique (QVC). I own a lot of it because much to my dismay, I have a knack for losing jewelry (diamond earring studs, in particular). Diamonique is so inexpensive, gorgeous and you can barely tell the difference. Funny thing is, I've never lost a pair of diamonique earrings...lol Figures!
I only wear real jewelry for special occasions now, too risky otherwise. The only exception is my grandmother's engagement ring, but that is super tight on purpose and is insured because of my bad luck with losing jewelry. I would flip if I ever lost it though...totally irreplaceable!
kmackey could write a Hub about all the different combinations of real/fake stones with different golds in the band - and maybe it would be Hub that would end up paying off in AdSense (at least to some degree). Or else write a great story about the ring and post a bunch of information about jewelry, links, etc.
That'd be a great hub! High quality costume jewelry is very popular. Hint: Amazon has Diamonique items (the best!)
OR.......
Maybe it actually does have a dead body missing it. It would be unfortunate if people stopped looking for the dead body just because it has now been discovered the victim wore costume jewelry. There could be a novel in this ring situation yet....
Ooooo Noooo..... Bad Luck on that.... NOW you should consider handing it in to the police... who probably will think it is a real one!
