This A White Circle Hub

    Can this Hub be salvaged?
It was a Squidoo lens, with an angle for making money and so I made it with a sharing theme.
It was featured before, but now after some manual hits by Google it has the white circle.

I can move it but I am now feeling remorse about dwindling my biggest account.

Any opinions or discussions, is it a perfect example of a no-no?

Why are pumpkins used for Halloween? Where did the Jack-o-lantern originate and what did it look like? Why would you buy a paper-mache pumpkin rather than a real one? Who makes the most valuable collector pumpkins? Why are they special? Why would I even bother with a pumpkin anyway, of any sort? Why are ceramic pumpkins collectible? How collectible are they? Why did you choose the products you chose? Why are they special?

What can your hub offer in information that makes it more valuable than a simple ebay/amazon search?

      Just some ideas smile

Melissa, wow all those ideas are stellar. This helps a lot. I like the images from my afternoon session and am reluctant to give up the Hub. It is true I really do not feel tons of passion for collecting pumpkins, but I can elaborate a bit more an our neighborhood pumpkins being smashed.

Maybe even the merits of decorating for the Holidays.

        You are help. Thanks.

I think you are misinterpreting Paul Edmonson's post.   Your Hub has not had "manual hits" from Google, and neither have any other Squidoo lenses.   He merely used that as an example of what can happen sometimes, if Hubs don't meet certain standards.

Your Hub was hit by a HubPages internal filter, that's all.   The reason is that you have three Amazon and eBay capsules all bunched together, with no strong reason why those products are the best for your reader.

I suggest deleting all three of those capsules.   I would suggest adding a new Amazon capsule in the "glass pumpkin" section, showing a glass pumpkin - that's much more likely to make a sale than posting random products.

You could certainly add some of Melissa's great ideas but they are not necessary to get your Hub Featured again.

I'm not sure the hub would pass QAP with just removing the capsules and adding the glass pumpkin capsule. It's still kind of lacking in substance. (no offense intended at all). So it might go through on the new rules, but not pass the standard QAP. I would say it's borderline as is... Just an opinion though, and you know what everyone says about those smile

um.. i am not familiar with the stories of pumpkins because in malaysia we just eat them, don't display or decorate them. If your hub did well in squidoo but became a circle here, that means, you need to change the title and contents to attract views

I think she meant that as a result of the two recent manual slaps on two subdomains and the subsequent action taken by HP on the site as a whole she received a white circle violation.  Paul didn't specify but he very much said that recently two subdomains were hit with a manual slap. Recently, Google put a manual action on a couple of subdomains for pure spam.  We analyzed the accounts.

In light of that, I like some of Melissa's suggestions. You could expand on the text and make your subheadings keyword phrase related.  You could even use some of her questions (or similar) as subheadings.  I would probably only include two products that relate directly to the surrounding content.

Thanks much. I did make some changes but I need to have morning coffee to get more creative writing in. It still needs more engagement.

I think the engagement issue is down to your title choice. I had no idea what the phrase "unreal pumpkins" meant (I'm in the UK). I thought it might be a US term but when I did a search on google.com it doesn't seem to have the same understanding of the term as you do either.... and that will be because searchers aren't using it to find artificial pumpkins.

I would definitely rework the title/keywords.

I liked this hub. I thought the images were very pretty. But the title is off, the word "unreal" doesn't work. Why don't you try a new title? How about adding content including a description of the different artificial pumpkins that you have featured. I like the one made of twigs. Did you ever make one yourself? You could add a bit on how to make one. I think this one is an easy fix!

Honestly, I do agree with you all of you on the title. Unreal was not working in I head, but I truly ignored that thought. Thanks for bringing it to the front and center.  I think I was trying to be clever; 'unreal' referring to something scary for Halloween. hahah

That goes to show, I secretly know what is required but laziness or ignoring, or being stubborn intellectually, creates some of my own problems.

When I first saw the title, that word jumped out at me also.  I wasn't clear on what it meant until I read the hub.  I thought perhaps that's what crafty people call them.  I love how you have been so open and receptive to suggestions.  Let us know when you've reworked it, so we can take a look.  smile

This morning the Hub was okay and score was 74. It was 62 or something before.

It ended up in example where deleting amazon and ebay helped because I only did minor writing changes and ended up with less word count.

Now I have to work on the keywords.

Pumpkin Decorating ideas  seems to have the most at 9900.  Pumpkin Decorations 3600.  Halloween Props is a good one for an additional keyword that you could write a section on.  Just some thoughts

Hey, I have to say I am enjoying this pick-apart the Hub. Coffee is working and I did a few Google searches. "unreal pumpkin" gets 409,000 results and "artificial pumpkin" gets 457,000.

Under unreal my intro photo does come up under images in the first scroll, I saw nothing under web.

I narrowed my webMaster tools to the month of Oct. and I only got one impression for "pumpkin collection."

So now I know why I got zero views.

Unreal, I remember now, is in the US like saying "awesome." Huffington had a post for Unreal Eats.
But also my target audience is home decor people. Those people are probably not the ones who search unreal.

The score for the unreal pumpkin hub is now 82. I will declare our work a success. Now I can wait 10 months and see how it does for Fall 2015. In the summer I will make sure all my promotion options are done. I may even blog about pumpkins which I only do sporadically.

Thank you everyone for your help.
