Earnings in Adsense Dropped with New Layout!

   My Adsense earnings (not the ad program earnings) dropped by two-thirds yesterday yet I have the same amount of traffic as always. This has never happened before. Did I miss some kind of FYI that the page restructuring was going to affect Adsense earnings? This is bunk.

      I noticed my adsense earning in my adsense account has dropped to nil. It was never much, but never at nil before.

   My earnings were down but not the number of images. It seems that yesterday the adsense CPM dropped maybe as it affected the quality of ads HP got given. My personal Adsense where I  eliminated the poor paying ads gives about 10 times the return of HP.

      Hi, I'm not sure what you mean. I mean the personal Adsense. How do you eliminate poor-paying ads on it? Isn't it all based on how profitable your hub topic is?

         I meant on my blog, you can select categories you want and do not want as well as ban certain advertisers Url`s.

         The Adsense I was referring to was on my blogs, which are separate from HP. You can block certain advertisers from your site and in fact it is advisable that you do as Google allows porn sites to advertize etc.

         It's mostly based on your topic, but going into your AdSense interface and setting preferences to block disreputable or violently-low-paying ads (whether they are in your topic or not) can be beneficial. 
         
         Many users choose to block super-spam topics such as gaming, weight loss and religion in general and then tune out specific ads based on their topics or personal preferences.

   One day is not much to go on. While my CPM was down some yesterday, it was higher than many days in November. The number of impressions was about the same. It's always frustrating when earnings go down - seems to always be a roller coaster!

   My CPM took a dive but then again, they have been the highest that I ever remember them being.  My impressions didn't take a dive, they did a crash and burn yesterday.

   My Google Adsense earnings has dropped to zero as well, which is odd.  My impressions and amazon click has also dramatically dropped. To put it in perspective, the day before the new hub layout I had Amazon clicks in the double digits, this morning I checked yesterdays Amazon clicks, zero.  Ouch.

   i also forgot to add my hubscore dropped 8 points in the last day and I have not made any changes.
   Not sure what happened unless the google bots are confused with the layout, maybe the numbers will go back up.  At this rate i'll cash out from adsense in 4 years..

      Are you signed up for the HP Earnings Program?  If you are, then you've got only one Adsense ad on each Hub, and it's right at the bottom of the Hub where most people won't see it.  So you shouldn't expect to see much Adsense income at all.   The reason you need Adsense is basically to qualify for the HP Program, not as an earner in its own right.

         I also make money from Adsense and for the second day in a row the earnings are actually 75% lower. So this looks like it's going to be a permanent thing with the layout. This really, really, really ... ugh.

    I am signed up for HP Earnings but I use my own Amazon account.  I don't get concerned over Adsense income because it is slowwwwww coming unless you hit the jackpot and get to the $100 minimum payout quickly.

       It helps to be getting earnings from elsewhere to add to the Hubpage Adsense earnings. Otherwise, it would take me a lifetime to get it too.

    Presumably the thing to do if AdSense has crashed is look at what happened where you use AdSense on another similar site which is not on HubPages.
    
    That way you can see whether or not it is an AdSense issue or a HubPages issue

    makingamark: How do you know that information.  I have HP and Wizzley with Adsense.  But, when I go to the Adsense account, I only see earnings. I see nothing about HP or Wizzley.

       From your Adsense home page click "performance reports" at the very top.
       
       You will then see "sites" listed among the options on the left column.
       
       If you click that you will see all of the sites on which there have been impressions and clicks during the date range that is specified.

          Thanks Leanman!!!  I had clicked on performance reports and got same thing.  I clicked on everything to no avail.  I must have missed clicking on sites after I clicked Performance Reports.   Both of my sites are listed.  HP is doing terrible.  I am doing much better with Wizzley.

             If you are using the HP ad program then your Adsense will be terrible as you are earning mainly through the HP ads and not Adsense.
             
             The debate that many have here is if they should use the HP ad program or just Adsense. Most people use just the HP ad program and do better through that.
             
             So you should compare your HP ad program to what you earn for Adsense on Wizzley.

       Unless you are not using the HP ad program you will not be earning much at all from Adsense... New layout or old layout....

    Today the first earnings to have the complete new layout, and the rate was down, but I had more impressions and earned back to where I was at .So I think the new layout works!

    My AdSense is way down re. Thursday as in 50% of the previous Thursday. It's the CPM which has collapsed - Impressions are about the same (incidentally Amazon not so affected)
    
    So is this the impact of the new layout?  If it is I can't see it surviving for very long......

    I know everyone's raving about the new layout, but as soon as it was implemented, my impression, CPM, and earnings have plummeted. To add insult to injury, zero amazon clicks since, despite making sales the last two days that will not be going in my pocket. How messed up is that? Infuriating. =/

       the thing about internet changes is that while they are instant, their results aren't instant. I'm no guru in the analytics department, so many times I have to wait and see if changes were a plus or minus.
       
       right now, whatever makes a site more mobile friendly is the way to go no matter what the short term impact.

    I think a lot of similar sites have tried to make their content more mobile friendly - only to find that it has a major adverse impact of advertising income and consequently the business model for the site. Let's not forget that these sites do not exist on fresh air!
    
    There is also a reason why so many similar sites have disappeared......... and I'm guessing a lot of it related to the numbers no longer stacking up.
    
    Hence adverse impact on AdSense Income is a serious issue for the site as well as us
    
    If the impact on AdSense continues I'm wondering if this needs to be raised within the new design bug thread where it might stand a chance of getting an answer

       I agree with your observation. But the change of traffic is definitely going mobile, so the challenge might be in monetizing and ads that work better in that format, perhaps? The environment is so much more competitive, I do hope hubpages comes out on top of it.
