I know there have been a few Comment related issues of late, but two in particular are affecting me at present.
1) On one occasion when I have tried to approve a comment on one of my hubs, it has had the opposite effect. It has deleted it. I know this has also been mentioned in another forum post by annart, but hopefully it can be fixed soon, as it is of course embarressing if it appears that a perfectly good or even warm comment has been deleted.
2) Twice today I have tried to post comments to other peoples' hubs. Each time it has proved to be impossible. Hitting 'post comment' has had no effect, and leaving the page just removes the comment. In each case I have rewritten it and copied it to a word processing programme, and I will try to repost at a later date. But some new members who apparently receive no response to their first HubPage efforts will surely feel quite disenchanted if they find they have received no comment feedback from other hubbers - a disenchantment which may be unjustified, if hubbers have been attempting unsuccessfully to post comments.
Comments are a major part of the hub experience and hubber interaction, and the clearest way of expressing support for other hubbers, so hopefully this can be rectified soon?
Yep, I've been having similar problems.
Earlier, I found a list of comments in my comments tab that I'd made on other people's hubs that were still in the "unmoderated" category. I shouldn't be seeing my own comments there. They're not there now, but I wonder what would have happened if I'd approved them?
It's most odd Thomas. The main problem I'm having at the moment is that I've been reviewing a few hubs by other writers and trying to post comments. I think today I've posted three successfully, but another three just will not post. I try, and when I hit the post button it's as if the hub is still waiting for me to edit the comment. Has nobody else experienced this? Some who have attempted to post comments may not even realise they've been unsuccessful, because hitting the post button just takes one back to the top of the hub. Maybe some will then assume it's posted successfully and just leave the page. However, scrolling down the hub reveals the comment box still to be open.
I'm sure there must be hubbers out there who are wondering why no one is commenting on their work. I don't know if the staff know about this particular comment-based issue yet, but I can let them know the particular hubs I've tried to post to, if they need to investigate.
They are:
1) http://rota.hubpages.com/hub/-Wollemi-P … ing-Fossil
2) http://hubpages.com/hub/Picture-these-d … agonflies#
3) http://jansaints.hubpages.com/hub/Top-1 … s-in-Kenya
The last of these is by a new Hubpages member who needs to be encouraged. If many comments aren't successfully posting, then that is a real shame.
I have just posted a comment, successfully, to one hub by 'leahlefler', but comments to two others by 'Rota' and 'Jan Saints' just will not post. I have tried each several times before and after the post to 'leaflefler' with no success, so it seems that only some authors or some hubs are suffering from this problem.
It happened to me also sometimes. I click the post button, but it will not respond. I click again, but no. At times, after some time, it shows up suddenly. Sometimes not. Then, I copy the comment, reload the page and then paste the comment and then post it. But, at times ( I hope it was on two occasions), the comment got posted twice due to this glitch. So, it needs to be solved immediately as you say.
Thank you Venkatachari. This morning I tried again with the three comments I attempted to post yesterday - and all worked fine! No obvious reason, but they are now visible. There's clearly a small technical glitch which is nothing to do with my post or the hubber's article. For the foreseeable future, if I am writing a long comment on another person's hub, I think I'll save a copy before hitting the post button. That way I can easily try again a day or two later.
You are welcome. We should be prepared, I think, to face any kind of problem and solve it with patience and, of course, by sharing the problem with others also, in some cases. Thanks for your thanks. I later visited one of the hubber you mentioned above in your links, Jan Saints to see whether I can post the comment there and it clicked successfully.

What is the best way to increase comments and accolades received on a hub? What is the single best way to increase interest in your hubs? And what is the best way to increase the most obvious evidence of interest in your hubs - namely, comments and accolades received? After nearly 2 years on...

I was quite stunned a week or more ago when someone made a statement on one of my hubs that she had commented twice and I had snubbed her by not replying. Her comment had been particularly flattering, and probably because I've spent a lifetime being flattered by others only to find that they wanted...

How important is it to have a comment section on your hubs, or How important is it to respond?I was going through some of the hubs that belong to some of the top paid hubbers ( info found on the success story page) and a lot of those people do not respond to comments. In fact, many of their...

There seem to be many hubbers who have no published hubs and are still allowed to comment on other people's writing. While there are some hubbers who are simply new and asking questions before diving in, it seems that some people open accounts purely for the purposes of making comments, often nasty...
