I'd like feedback on my hub: Screwing up your child's Form?

   Hello,
   I would like some feedback as to what else I can do to improve my hub for the QAP.  I also cannot find a place where I can get free hd pics.  Would you know a source that I can get this?  Thank you

      You can take your own pictures.  This Learning Center entry has a list of places that offer free images you can use, and even shows you how to attribute them:

         Thanks.  I  did use pics from their suggestions but didn't come in clear enough to use.  do you have a recommendation?

            Make sure that when you choose an image, you don't just save the thumbnail. I usually download the large size, (although the smaller sizes may also work) and use that. Where did you get your image?

         You probably have to type it in.  It will not show on the featured hubs since it didn't pass QAP

            You still should be able to add it to your featured content. It is in profile settings. There's a drop down box and you can select it. I cannot find your hub in the search either!

                  Ok! I read it and think it is a good topic. But there needs to be more substance to it with better transitioning. Begin with the problem you are referring to and give detail about the situation for your opening. Your title does not really fit the topic, either. Basketball should be one of your key words as well as form. Don't use screwing in the title unless you want your article to pop up when people look for porn. You reference an entire book in your article. If someone could write a book on the topic then you should be able to write 800-1250 words. The more information present, the clearer your message is, and the better your readers will understand you. So get more information into the Hub. Also, the picture is very pixelated. Hubpages has pretty strict rules for proper photos. That's all I got!

            John, if you received an  email from HP letting you know your hub didn't pass QAP, there should be a link in the email that you can click and it will post directly to this forum and includes the link to your hub. 
            This is in the post that was recently posted at the top of the forums by Marina on HP staff.
            If you have a Hub that is not Featured, all you need to do is click on the link at the bottom of the email you received. Clicking the link will post a brief message to the Improving Your Hub Forum along with a link to the Hub. 
            That way we'll be better able to help you.

         I think it needs to have the word "basketball" in the title. "Shooting" on its own is too vague, as it refers to a variety of topics, such as hunting and photography. Use the Google keyword finder or Jaxxy to find out what people who want help in this topic are most likely to type into a search engine.

   You can get free photos to use in hubs at Wikimedia Commons and MorgueFile.  Some people also use Flickr, but you need to make certain the photos you choose have been released for free use by the owners.  With some sites, you'll need to specify the resolution you're importing - some imports are not of the quality this site wants for publication.
   
   If you look in the Learning Center, you'll find information on proper photo citations.
   
   As with others, I can't see your hub just now, but one thing that struck me is the title is not clear. I don't know what you mean by 'your child's form' - a form for school?  It's best to create a title that lets the reader know what to expect, and that's searchable on the Internet.  Think of ways a parent or another person might 'search' for what you've written, and that might help you get views.
   
   FYI - I would suggest NOT using a title with the words 'screwing up' or any other version of that first word.  I know we all understand it is a slang term, but it might be an issue with QAP (not sure - just a thought) and it might also be frowned on by Google.

   I took a quick look at your article, and if I were you I would definitely work the word "basketball" into the title, so readers will know what it is about, and web searchers looking for info on this topic can find your article.
   
   I think the article is too short for HubPages. What else can you advise on this topic? Other than giving kids the wrong size of basketball, what are some more ways that parents inadvertently cause problems with their kids' form? I would either expand upon different ways that parents mess up their kids' form, or if you want to keep it only about ball size, go more in depth about ball sizes and pros and cons, and work that into the title or subheads, for example, using a subhead such as "Using the wrong size basketball can wreck your child's form," or perhaps even changing the title to that.
   
   You express yourself well, but there are a few grammatical issues that need cleaning up, for example, in "mastery of the mechanics have took place," "took" should be corrected to "taken." In another spot, "nor is" should be "nor are." There are several spots where a parenthesis is butted right up to a word(like this) when there should be a space (like this). These are just little things that you can catch if you carefully proofread your work before publishing it, or ask a friend or relative to read over your articles first. An easy solution is to run your work through a free online spell/grammar checker.
   
   Provide more in-depth information and clean up the small mistakes, and you should be good, especially if you get your photo issue worked out.

   Hi John A Williams, I have just had a look at your hub and would suggest that firstly you change the title as I was expecting a hub about a form (as in school form!) I was most surprised at the picture and the subject. I would also suggest adding 3 pictures, a poll and maybe a couple of you tube videos which could relate to the subject. Referring to the Learning Tutorials and having a little read would help you. Good luck. tlcs
