What is going on with the publishing of articles here?

   So, I published an article on Saturday and it went into pending status, as it should. Then there was no indication as to whether it was published or not (except the color of the lettering on the title, which seemed to indicate it was not published) and I thought maybe the politically/religiously charged subject matter somehow got me censored. So I hit publish again thinking I had done something goofy the first time and almost immediately got a comment on the article from a fellow hubber.
   
   I've noticed other threads noting some wacky things going on. I'm new to HubPages; only active for a couple of weeks now so I'm just wondering if this is normal or if the site is having issues or even being attacked.

      Generally the QAP evaluation occurs with in 24 hours.
      
      It sounds like you are simply encountering the fact that over weekends, the time a Hubs takes to be cleared by the QAP can take a bit longer.
      
      While a Hub is pending evaluation, it is not published or available to be read by other users.

   Sounds normal to me. Sometimes hubs go through QAP faster and are featured sooner. Be patient.

      Thanks, colorfulone. Question: Does a renaissance painting of Adam and Eve in their original state of nudity count as any of those things listed? That may seriously limit religious, artistic and/or historically themed hub posts.

         I know that there are hubs with nude paintings on the site.
         It isn't worth the risk to me to lose anything I work to gain.

         For content with nudity, including artistic content (painting, sculptures, etc.) authors should disable ads, otherwise you risk losing your AdSense account.

            Trevor, if you want to have nude painting photos on a hub you can disable the ads on a hub in edit. At the top of a hub in edit you will see "NEED SOME GOALS?" ... scroll down to "DISPLAY OPTIONS" and click on it and you will see an option to have Ads on or off on a hub.

               Thanks! It appears it was done for me, but that is good to know for future reference and I went ahead and used a less lurid image.
               
               On a personal note, that seems pretty darn silly, I remember museum field trips in elementary school that exposed us innocents to far more "lewd" imagery, but I suppose I understand.
               
               That said, I would like to make a little bit of money at this and disabling the ads ain't the way to go about it, I wouldn't imagine.

   I just read Trevors hub and saw the pictures and everything and I was thinking, "Huh? what nudity" It took me forever to put together that the nudity referred to could possibly be the Adam and Eve in the first pic. I thought someone had gone crazy. As far as disabling your ads with a painting like that, maybe just a little nutso.

      Nutso or not, it is a fact of life when dealing with Google.  Matthew was entirely right - whether HP allows it or not, Google will not and WILL cancel your adsense (forever, without appeal) should you be so bold as to post such terrible things as a photo or drawing of the human body.

   Just to cover my own booty, I took down the "porn" and put up a much more pastoral and PG depiction of Adam and Eve. I'm betting you can't even see them. They're in the center, waaaaay in the background. They might be nekkid, but it would take a magnifying glass to tell. I sure can't, not with 100% certainty. Google, you silly.

   On weekends, it takes time for hubs to get published because the staff are on break.
   
   Hence, ads are not only disabled when you have "naked" pictures but also when you have some nude words on hubs.
