When to Share Hubs on Social Media

I am kind of backwards when it comes to social media, so please bear with me as I ask a question about something many people probably figured out a long time ago:

It seems to me the best time to tweet or share a Hub is right after publication. However, I remember back when the QAP program was first introduced there was some concern that immediately sharing a Hub while it still had the noindex tag could result in problems with it getting indexed even after it passed QAP and noindex was removed.

Did that turn out to be a valid concern? Does anyone ever have trouble getting indexed when they share their Hubs on social media while it is still in the QAP process?

You should wait until the Hub has passed the QAP and is featured as Facebook and other social networks will need to be able to read and parse the Hub. If you share it when it is not available to be read, then it can show as a broken link or not populate the image correctly. The initial state at which it is shared is also cached on Facebook for a time, so can show as not working or without an image even when it is published if you share it before the QAP completed.

I always wait until the hub is indexed in Google before telling anyone about it; theft concerns. I've been rethinking that thought lately. I'd also like to hear comments about this.

I have posted Hubs to social sites long after writing one. Sometimes every few years, and I don't see any problem with that.

I agree, but I'm actually asking about the issues with posting Hubs to social sites immediately after publication.

The concern voiced at one point was that when they are crawled on the social site and Googlebot sees the noindex it will then make it tougher for the Hub to get indexed even after noindex is removed.

To be honest, how soon it's indexed isn't a concern for me. What is a concern is that the hub won't display any ads if it hasn't passed the quality assessment. Therefore I usually wait 24 hours before sharing it on social media so that I get impressions (and possibly) clicks for those ad views.

I wait also, because of no ads being put on.

That's a good point, and another concern I remember people taking about when QAP first started

the best time to announce anything is when the Americans are home from work - it gives you the biggest audience and the best chance of going anything like 'viral'.

Matthew:  I've actually faced the opposite lately (in fact, just today).  A hub I published weeks ago simply wouldn't propagate an image on Facebook, whereas a brand new one from Friday went up just fine.  I was baffled.

Sometimes Facebook just has trouble loading an image from a link, irregardless of it being a HubPages or another link.

If I add a link to share on Facebook and the image doesn't load, I cancel out the post and refresh the Facebook page and then try the link again. Many times this will result in the image loading on a repeated attempt.

This all assumes that the Hub is currently published, so you may want to check on the status of your old Hub.

Yeah, I know all about those tricks.  For whatever reason, it only happens with my revolutionbjj.hubpages.com pages (not the goatfury ones).

When I publish a hub, immediately, I see a message that my hub link url is such and such and I can share it on twitter with that url, in the meantime. So, I always share it then and there immediately on twitter. I don't know whether it works or not. At other social media sites, I share only the next day morning.
