Links to authoritative websites

   Somewhere, perhaps in the Learning Center, I read that it is good to include a link to a well-established authoritative website on my subject so I try to do that in every hub if appropriate. What if there are several very good websites, each with something unique to offer, on my subject and I want to link to 4 or 5 of them?  I've done this without getting a warning notice, but someone said it is not good to do this as it dilutes my "link juice." Any thoughts?.

      In my opinion the main thing is for outgoing links to fit organically into the hub, and be helpful to people seeking more in depth information on the subject.
      
      As far as I know there is no benefit to having outgoing links per se, so if they don't fit in well you can just not have any.

      Thanks, this is all useful information.  I usually only do one or two links to other sites and only if the site is relevant and really good.

   That sounds like a lot of links.  This is what I have learned to do:
   
   Lets say text says "Ball and Jacks" and you have Wikipedia article on Ball and Jacks history. I hyperlink Ball and Jacks with the site URL.
   
   When I have numerous sites that are related to my content, provide more information, I simply create a text box, More Information, Related Articles, etc,  with a short snippet and hyperlink text there.

   Less is generally more.  Most people are not going to visit a half a dozen websites, but do appreciate a few, especially if they are extremely related and useful.  For example a hub on handmade soaps I've included links to places to purchase the oils you need and to a lye calculator which is very important for getting proper weights.  Those are links that I am sure others reading will likely need anyway and find useful.  If I include 5 or 6 however, it could start to be a bit much.  It all depends on the subject matter though. 
   
   I do not believe for a minute that a few links to directly related, authoritative websites is going to cost you "link juice".  It makes no sense.

   There's actually some correlation between links to other, high-quality, authoritative websites and a better placement in search. (It's only a small correlation, but anything is good!)
   
   As other have said, I think that if it's directly relevant to the subject of your hub and expands on points you've made or offers alternative avenues for research, include a link. I probably wouldn't include more than abut 3 or 4 links in any one hub.
