Hub Groups

   I have a suggestion regarding the hub groups.
   
   Once we have a large number of hubs, and find that we may have gotten distracted, and forgotten to add a group category to a new hub, it is cumbersome to do so after the fact.
   
   The list of "orphan hubs" is way at the bottom, and having to click/drag the title to the appropriate group sometimes goes awry.  A slip of the finger on the mouse, and the title is let go, and falls back to the bottom of the page, or worse, ends up hidden in a group in which it most certainly does not belong.
   
   It takes time, then, to hunt it down and see where it landed, and start over again.
   
   It would be helpful, if instead of the dragging method, we could click on any title, and select a "move to"  option, from which a list of our groups would be displayed, and with a second click, choose the appropriate group, and voila!  Done!
   
   This would also be useful when rearranging hubs into new groups, if we have branched out in our subject matter, and want to separate some hubs that were previously under a single group.
   
   For those who understand programming, I believe this would be an easy thing to do; similar to what any computer can already do with a right-click, "send to" ... desktop; e-mail; new folder, etc....
   
   Thank you for taking this idea under consideration.

      Good idea, Lizzy. I didn't know about the click and drag. I've gone into each hub that I didn't categorize, hit the edit button, then selected the appropriate category. Most of the time I'm not even aware I didn't originally select a category until I have to edit something that's become unfeatured. At that point, I check the box to make sure the hub's in the right place.

      We discussed this today and do have plans to work on improving the grouping feature in the future.

         Ah, thanks, Matthew!  That would be a great improvement.  I somehow always manage to forget to place a new hub in a group, and end up with a dozen 'orphans' at the bottom of the page.
         As for using bravewarrior's technique--that would require remembering which hubs were not placed in groups!  LOL

      Good idea! I've tried rearranging hubs under the groups and when you hit the bottom or top of a page when dragging, you have to keep bouncing in order to move further. A click and relocate type move would be a great improvement.

   I would like to add an additional suggestion to this topic.
   
   Namely, When working in the hub groups, I have noticed that if a title is clicked upon, it "jumps" over, like a tab space, and the "working" circle starts spinning.  But--what is it "working" on?  The hub wasn't dragged anywhere, only clicked upon.
   Then, up comes a notification that "Your changes have been saved."  What changes?  None were made.  All I did was click on a hub title.
   
   Now, my new suggestion is, that when clicking on a hub title in the groups view, it would also be helpful if those acted as links, and took you to the hub.
   
   Once you have over 300 hubs, it becomes cumbersome to sift through the list in the "my account" view, especially if you have edited the title, and do not recall the exact change, but you know in general what it was about.  So, in that case, it is helpful to use the groups view. 
   
   Then, if you wanted to make more edits, you could just click on it from there, instead of having to jump back over to the 'account' page and scroll through the list.  (Yes, I know; it can be alpha-sorted, but if the title starts far down the alphabet...even if you 'reverse sort' the list...)
   It just seems that less page-hopping would speed up working time.

   DzyMsLizzy - I just found this thread you started two months ago. Now that I read through it, I have a couple of suggestions that might help you.
   
   I have a lot of groups and over a hundred hubs, so I understand your frustration. When I manage my groups, the first thing I do is collapse all the groups and then I expand only the two groups I want to move hubs between. That minimizes the page so that I don't need to drag hubs very far to get to the new location.
   
   You can find the two buttons to collapse and to expand right under the heading "Assign Hubs to Groups" lower down on your group management page.
   
   The other point I wanted to share with you is a solution for finding which groups your hubs are in, in case you lost track of them as you mentioned. Here's how...
   
   You can filter your stats by group. Just go to your stats page and under "Filter" click on "select an article group" and then select any group. You'll see only those hubs that are in that group.
   
   I use that filter method for lots of things. For example, if I want to find all my hubs that have Amazon capsules, that can be done with the "select a capsule"  filter.

      Oh, thanks, Glen!
      I did not know that was possible.  I'll have to look into it.  I have probably over 20 groups.. it can be a real pain trying to drag a title to the correct group!
      (But my original suggestion to HP stands!  If we could right-click, get a menu and a 'move to' option, that would be even better!)
