Amazon's "non-target" policy toward children under 13 declaration

   Recently, I, as well as hundreds of thousands of others was required by Amazon to submit a declaration that none of the sites I work for or on (in which I use my Amazon i.d.) specifically target children under 13 years of age.  I did this, of course, because, hey, I like to comply with people who pay me for stuff.
   
   I use Amazon here on HP via HP's Amazon program, not under my own Amazon i.d.  Amazon has issued a deadline date to make this declaration (they sent instructions to everyone on how to do it).
   
   My question is this: does anyone know if any member of HP's management structure has, indeed, filed the declaration yet on behalf of HP?? Don't feel like losing my ability to use Amazon here . . . (this site is obviously NOT geared toward children but you gotta file regardless).

      I thought that was some kind of spam and deleted it. I guess I'll retrieve it if you think it's legit. I found it odd.

         If you don't sign it, Amazon will cease payments on your personal Amazon account starting in August. 
         
         You can always just wait and not sign it and see if it's spam, or not.

            How do you access it to be able to sign it if you did not get the email?  I don't use my personal Amazon account to earn, but I do have a book published there and am wondering if this will affect my payments for that?  I would sign it if I knew how to access the form.

To continue your participation in the Amazon Associates program, you need to declare that none of your sites are directed at children under 13.

               August 31, 2015 – We will begin to withhold advertising fee payments to accounts that have not completed their declaration.
               October 31, 2015 – We will close accounts that have not completed their declaration.
               
               To complete the declaration:
               1. Sign in to your Associates Central account at: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com
               2. Click on “Account Settings”, then click on “Edit your website list”
               3. Ensure 'Your website list’ is accurate – by adding new websites or removing existing ones from the list.
               4. Click on “Next” and complete the declaration process.

                  I had wanted to include mine in the original posting but found I'd completely deleted it off the planet when I was done with it about two weeks ago.  That should help a lot of people, though I guess we'll never know if HP's admin complied or not since I was advised somewhere else here they don't monitor forum postings of this type.

   I have heard/read about this but have not been able to locate an email about it nor did I find it anywhere in my Amazon Associates account. Can someone tell me the date of the email, my inbox is packed, maybe I just overlooked it? Or can someone tell me if not everyone got this notice?

      Because of the sheer volume emails went out in waves. If you don't see one check back all the way to mid June. Otherwise do as the one respondent below did--just go to your account and see if you have a notice.

   I got that same e-mail about two weeks ago, I think. I'm not in HP's Amazon program so I have my own Amazon ID #. I went to my Amazon account and logged in thru a new browser window (I didn't use the link in the e-mail just in case it was some kind of phishing thingy) and as soon as I logged in the "verification" thing came up so obviously it was the real deal.
   
   All you're doing is checking off a box which verifies that your site does not "target" children under the age of 13. Why this is such a big deal to Amazon, I have no clue.

            I own two of the three originals titles issued (my dad bought them, oddly enough).  The artwork reminds me of Crum; the stories, though nearly all druggie humor, were pretty funny.  Good for you for knowing about them!

   Wow, this is really important information that you provided!  Thank you.  For 20 years our website was featuring online learning games for all ages including children from 5 on up.  I NEVER advertised on those pages, but about two years ago, I started with some google ads and some ads from Seller Central at Amazon.  I even have an Amazon Store with primary reading materials on my website.  I REALLY have to look into this.   (Not that we get any money from any of the ads ANYWAY, BUT I don't want to be anything that is not considered "best practices:. THANK YOU for submitting this in the forum. I'm going to check this out and post this information on  my bizblog as well.
