Name THE VERY WORST thing that your teachers have done and said to you in elementary school.
I had an algebra teacher who was also an assistant football coach... interesting combo. He was an utter D-bag to everyone except his football players and gave kids he didn't like disparaging nicknames. Mine was "dirt bag," the girl next to me was "Ozone Baby," etc. Needless to say, his class was unbearable.
I got back at him about halfway thru the year when I flubbed an answer to a question, and he commanded me to "Stand up in front of the class and say 'I am an idiot'".... so I stood up and said "Okay. You're an idiot."
That bought me a trip to the principals' office and a couple of days' detention but it was totally worth it.
Definitely worth it. I never understood how teachers got away with being abusive. I can see keeping kids in line, but if you have to resort to these tactics to do it; you don't need to be a teacher. yikes. He should have been fired.
This man was not teacher's material. Teaching should be done because one wants to nurture and encourage young minds, not to belittle children and exercise power play.
Nowadays, he definitely would be shown the door, but it was a different time.
My 4th grade teacher insisted on telling me - and my parents, that I was "weird". Nice. I'm sorry that even from a very young age I wasn't just another sheep, I've always marched to the beat of my own drummer, but this woman demanded absolute conformity and would ridicule those she thought were different. How ironic it was in a Catholic school no less. lol. Oh well, what stung then I remember with fondness now, because I am weird - and I don't give a flip what others have to say about it as an adult. My kids? also both very weird - and that's a GOOD thing lol.
Of course it was a Catholic school-they DEIFY mindless conformity and obedience. That goes with the territory. Mindless automatons are rewarded in such schools. Children who are individualistic are deemed quite problematic.........THEY WANT SHEEP WHOM THEY CAN MANIPULATE!
Excuse me? Do you make all your comments so insulting to a whole group of people? I went to, and have volunteer taught, in a Catholic school and don't find your opinion valid. My children went to a public school, so I know there are good and not so good teachers in both settings. Shame on you!
I attended Catholic school and I know where ChristinS is coming from. Children who exhibit individualism and indepemdent thinking in such schools are sternly admonished to conform and conformity is deified in Catholic schools.
Nothing too terrible in elementary school but I had a few awful ones in high school.
One of my high school teachers made the kids do embarrassing things if they forgot their textbooks in class. I had to do an interpretive dance on how the railway was built and one of my friends had to sing I'm A Little Teapot.
I had another one who made fun of a chubby kid when he was late for class one day, saying stuff like "oh he's probably got his hand stuck in a vending machine or something."
People who enjoy humiliating kids really shouldn't be teachers.

Why Do Parents Send Their Children To Christian Schools?I personally think that each person should have to choice to partake in any (or no) religion of their choosing. For context, the details aren't the point, the action is. That the student appears to be an activist is only important relative to what is claimed and reported to be his 'bullying' behavior: whether it was as innocent as the student claims or as strident as his background might indicate.It...

Anyone who attended Catholic schools can attest to the discipline, sometimes harsh, that they received from the nuns and priests. One man informed me that in his high school, the priests or brothers will regularly hit him for a minute infraction. A woman I know relayed to me...

To add to that, a lot of students are beginning to turn away from religion because it...
