Yay! Final HP payout yesterday and now I will delete my final article and say goodbye and thanks for all the fish!
- Casey
Goodbye Casey - What fish? No one ever gave me any fish. You have not been receiving fish on the religious forums, or have you?
Hi Solaras it is a Douglas Adams reference (the same guy who wrote Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy). Despite Casimiro`s lack of success here, I guess those of us who write about dogs and cats are allowed to stay here, and maybe even fans of the dolphin (hard rockers and Simpsons fans too, Fat Freddys Cat--wouldnt want to forget about you).
Never read it My brother and brother-in-law might get that reference. Still no fish for me....
I wouldn't say lack of success. After all, I did make a couple hundred bucks here. But, it is a MUCH more profitable use of my time to do copywriting instead.
Several hundred bucks! That is great for one week.
You did mean one week, didnĀ“t you?
Sounds like the sane thing to do IMO. You should advertise your services to HP as they are in need of a better copywriter for the blurbs on the front page. This one struck me as particularly awkward:
People from all over the world contribute to HubPages by sharing words and pictures. Get to know us a bit by reading what everyday people have to say about Sports and Recreation, and Football (Soccer). The breadth of content on HubPages is wide, but each article is specific in its own special way!
That is just ghastly! First of all, I have no interest in any form of team sport.
More importantly, "everyday people": what a demeaning way to describe the writers here! This immediately implies Hubpages is NOT the place to look for reliable information and a pleasing literary style, but rather that it provides rubbish cobbled together to please the lowest common denominator in society.
Yes, that is a very unreadable blurb.
There was one main factor that opened my eyes about HP. As a copywriter, I do a LOT of online research on a wide variety of topics. In my searches, I would say an HP article might come up once in a thousand listings if that. The articles are nearly invisible.
"Invisible" - The absence of presence, emmm....
I guess that could also relate to those hundreds of excellent, 'common-folk' writers who once blessed the SERPS, the world and the now shallow halls of HP, before certain members of the management team found great piles of gold could be gained by demonstrating their own writing prowess.
Afterall, how hard could it be satisfying the lowly masses by merely stringing words together with a dash of 'Common' Sense, Adsence, 5 Parts of Non Sense, 2 Parts lack of understanding of the minds, humor, styles or cultural differences of non US members, a whole S...load of Redirected Links, a hopefully 'invisible' presence of smoke, mirrors, some highly questionable blackhat seo tactics and the protracted denials yet inevitable exposure of same?
"Now that's REAL TALENT... and a whole different class of arrogance, far beyond that which could ever be collectively and genuinely harnessed from my now Invisible peers and other such common-folk as I..." replied the Echo

Friends, it's been an interesting two months since I migrated here from Squidoo, but I've decided HubPages isn't the place for me, or my content. Starting tomorrow, I'll begin the process of moving my hubs to my own web sites. (Including today's Hub of the Day, which is my second this month.)For...

What do you think of people who ask a question then use the answers to write a hub? What do you think of people who ask a question (in forums or answer section etc) then use your answers and turn them into a hub? Would it bother you?

Is it just me or are the "Hubs of the Day" pretty basic?Who picks the "Hub of the Day" because they are all so lacking in depth? THey are basic instruction manuals. Even the two hubs I've had featured on hubpages were basic. Why don't they ever pick philosophy, religion,...

I just read the newsletter and learned that Simone will be leaving us soon. It is a shock and I'd love to start begging but I admire the decision and wish her the very best with her own online endeavors. For me Simone has been one of the rocks of Hubpages and I know I for one will miss her kind...

Aging is an inevitable thing, but that doesn’t mean the process has to be unpleasant. There are, in fact, a litany of things one can do to stay healthy, feel young, and age gracefully. What advice can you share on this front? If you don’t know quite what you would write about these subjects,...
